Rufus Edward Prieskorn died on 15 March 1987 at age 77 Rufus E. "Rudy" Prieskorn, 77, of 100 Brighton Hill Circle, Columbia, died Sunday. Born in Illinois, he was a son of the late Charles and Amelia Whitman Prieskorn.

He was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist and was retired from the Navy. Mr. Prieskorn was also a retired electrical engineer. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Parker Prieskorn; a daughter, Miss Donna Prieskorn of Columbia; sisters, Mrs.

Lorene Sperry and Miss Verona Prieskorn of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and a brother, M.C. Prieskorn of Fort Dodge. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Support Group of Columbia, 4186 Fernandina Road, Columbia.

Donald Karl Prieskorn died on 4 April 1971 at age 59 Don Prieskorn, 59, Sudden Heart Victim Donald K. Prieskorn, 59, a well-known Algona man, died suddenly of a heart attack about 8 a.m. Sunday at his home. He had become ill early in the evening the night before but apparently was feeling well when he awakened Sunday. He was stricken shortly after.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Mc Cullough funeral chapel. Msgr. Lawrence Hoffman officiated and burial was made in the Fort Dodge Memorial Park cemetery. Graveside rites were held at Fort Dodge Wednesday at 2 p.m. Serving as pallbearers were John Claude, John Nauholz, Walter Hagen, Dr. Dean Koob, Dr. Joseph Rooney, Delmar Reding, Grady Phillips and Paul Owens. He was born at Somonauk, Il. on Dec. 27, 1911, son of Charles and Amelia Prieskorn.

He served in the Merchant Marines during World War 2 and had lived at Fort Dodge, Storm Lake and Fairmont, Minn. before coming to Algona 20 years ago. Mr. Prieskorn had been associated with the Moorman Feed Co. for the past 30 years and had been state manager of the firm for the past several years.

He was married to Mary Hazel Koll in Indiana on July 1937: She survives as does a son Mark, Iowa City; one stepson, Robert J. Koll of San Diego, Calif. and his mother. Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters: Mrs. Hugh Sperry, Fort Lauderdale, Miss Verona Prieksorn, Fort Dodge; M. C. Prieskorn, Fort Dodge; and R. E. Prieskorn, Columbia, S. C. There are also three grandchildren.

76-Year Old Woman Is Eye Donee IOWA CITY According to an Iowa City doctor, a 76-year-old woman is to receive the eyes of the late Don Prieskorn of Algona. The eyes were donated shortly after Mr. Prieskorn died of an apparent heart attack Sunday morning at the age of 59. The donation decision followed a public appeal for donors by the Algona Lions Club earlier in the day.

The club, operating the Algona radio station here Sunday, broadcast the appeal at about 7:45 a.m, Mrs. Prieskorn called the station and inquired as to the legal aspects of post -m donations to the eye bank. Ted Chrischilles of the Lions told her he would find out and call her back. Chrischilles made the call about 15 to 20 minutes later. Dr. Dean Koob answered and informed him of the unexpected death. The eyes were removed here and taken to Iowa City by the Iowa Highway Patrol. A Dr. Sanderson later called Mrs. Prieskorn from Iowa City and told her of the donee.

Among survivors are his wife, Michelle; two sons, Joshua of Iowa City and Callin of Des Moines; and a daughter, Gina Winne of Des Moines. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association, Iowa Golden chapter. Arrangements are being handled by Southtown Funeral Home.
