Dale Dean Klemme was born Aug. 11, 1936, the son of Emrey and Freda (Schmidt) Klemme. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Preston Township, rural Akron. He attended country school in Preston Township. He later attended high school in Akron and graduated from Akron High School.
He was united in marriage to Arlene LaVonne Yates, the daughter of Clarence and Leona (Kisting) Yates, on Nov. 30, 1957, by the Rev. Henry Dirks at St. John Evangelical Lutheran, Preston Township. Together, they are the parents of four children, Daniel, Kevin, Cindy and Kym. The couple farmed in Preston Township for many years. In the early 1990s, he retired from farming due to failing health. He went to work for seven years at Coil Craft in Hawarden as a bonder for computer chips. In the summer of 2000, he entered the care center for his Alzheimer's disease.
He was a longtime member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township. He was also a member of the Full Gospel Men's Association. He was a strong supporter of Christian beliefs and activities. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing Christian songs. He also enjoyed riding horses and raising cattle, where he received an award for best feeder cattle.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Arlene of Akron; four children: Daniel of Akron, Kevin and his wife, Holly of Columbia, Tenn., Cindy Foley and her husband, Dave of Le Mars and Kym Rich and her husband, Chris of Le Mars; eight grandchildren: Daniel Klemme and his wife, Jenny, Dana Klemme, Caitlin Roberts, Grace Roberts, Dominick Foley, Alex Foley, Daytona Foley, and Samantha Rich; three great-grandchildren: Keegan, Logan, and Camaron; a brother, Kenneth Klemme and his wife, Betty Jo of Hawaii, his twin brother Daryl Klemme and his wife, Louise of Akron; two sisters: Betty Jean Athens and her husband, Roger of Le Mars, and Verla Mae Jacobs of California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin Klemme; a stepsister, Mildred Laudenschlager; a niece: Marlene Klemme; and a nephew, Dana Laudenslayer.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Preston Township, 22543 C-16, rural Akron, with the Rev. Jerry Crow officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today (Thursday) with the family present after 6 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the Carlsen Funeral Home - Schroeder Chapel, Akron.
Pallbearers will be Chris Rich, Dave Foley, Dana Klemme, Stan Jacobs, Jeff Klemme, and Dennis Wilken. Honorary pallbearers will be Leonard Koch, Jack Fara, Daniel Klemme, Darwin Klemme and Allan Witt.

Mildred O. Laudenschlager was born Dec. 6, 1912, in Union County, S.D., the daughter of Emery and Adele (Ahrens) Klemme. She attended Sayles and Mount Hope Schools. On Sept. 19, 1934, Mildred and Ernest Meske were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, by the Rev. Fred Meske. The couple farmed in Plymouth County, Iowa and Union County, S.D. Mildred attended Union Creek Lutheran Church, West Akron, Iowa. She was actively involved with Church Council, Sunday School, missions, and WELCA. Ernest died in 1963.
On Nov. 15, 1975, Mildred married Leonard Laudenschlager in Oakland, Neb. The couple made their home in Oakland until Leonard died in 1993. Mildred then moved to Le Mars to be closer to her family. She attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars and participated in WELCA.
Mildred enjoyed visiting, spending time with her family, and playing almost any card game. She had been a resident of Brentwood Good Samaritan Home in Le Mars for the past three months.
Survivors include her daughters, Vanita Meske of Custer, S.D., and Yvonne Law and her husband, Don, of Le Mars; five grandchildren: Mark Olson and his wife, Cindy of Akron, Julie Bock and her husband, David of West Jordan, Utah, Teresa Birkley and her husband, John of Bronson, Sherri Permeswaran and her husband, Permes of Le Mars, and Lori Heil and her husband Doug of Mobridge, S.D; 10 great-grandchildren, Ashley and Amanda Olson, Mindy Bock, Craig and Andrea Luesebrink, Vijay, Palani and Yashila Permeswaran, Katie and Joey Heil; sisters Betty Athens and Verla Mae Jacobs; brothers Daryl Klemme, Dale Klemme, and Kenneth Klemme; two sisters-in-law, Marge Scholten and her husband, Vic of Sheldon, and Deloris Meske of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ernest and Leonard; two sisers, Velma Groon and Ida Muth, and three brothers Howard Willms and Louis Willms, and Marvin Klemme.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars. The Rev. Gary Landsness officiated. Burial was in Union Creek Cemetery, West Akron. Visitation began at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. There was also one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral.
Pallbearers were be Mark Olson, Doug Heil, Permes Permeswaran, John Birkley, Vijay Permeswaran, Craig Luesebrink, and David Bock.

Organist was Carol Harris with Bob Brown as soloist.

Mr. Hinrichs was born on September 24, 1914 in Crete, Ill., the son of William and Myrtle (Klemme) Hinrichs. Gilbert attended country school in rural Akron, Iowa, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Libya, Tunisia, Italy, and North Africa.

He married Lorene Seely on July 27, 1945 in Akron. She died on Feb. 1, 1994. [Note: Lorene passed away 2-4-1994]

He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. Over the years, Gilbert had lived in Crete, Sioux City, and Akron.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of both Crete and Akron.

Survivors include a brother-in-law and his wife, Eldon; and Alma Seely of Akron; two sister's-in-law, Vera Peterson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Louise Hinrichs of New Mexico; one niece and her husband, Nancy and Keith Bagge of Sioux City; two nephews, Ernest Hinrichs of Ind., and Gary Hinrichs of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Alice; and two brothers; Ernest and Melvin.

Services were held Monday, February 7 at Trinity Lutheran church in Akron with Rev. Allen Bidne officiating. Musical selections were congregational hymns, "Beautiful Savior," "What A Friend," and "Lift High The Cross" with Marietta Nielsen as organist.

Burial was in the Union Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Akron, under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home. Casketbearers were Dale Peterson, Robert Gries, Keith Bagge, Myron Seely, Roger McGraw and Bob Klemme.

Mrs. Hinrichs was born August 7, 1918 in Union County, S.D., the daughter of Lester and Hannah (Johnson) Seely. She attended school at West Union rural school near Akron. She worked in Sioux City for five years and married Gilbert Hinrichs July 27, 1945 at Union Creek Lutheran Church, rural Akron. They lived in Sioux City for a short time and moved to Crete, Ill., in 1946. She belonged to Trinity Lutheran church in Crete and was a member of the American Veterans Auxiliary. The couple moved to Akron in 1987.

She was baptized and confirmed, at Union Creek Lutheran church and was a member of Trinity Lutheran church in Akron at the time of her death.

Survivors include her husband; a sister Vera Peterson and her husband Wilhelm of Phoenix, Ariz; a brother Eldon Seely and his wife Alma of Akron, and eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Orval.
