Mrs. Eagan was born January 11, 1910 the daughter of the late George and Mary (Ruhland) Ring in Plain, Wisconsin. Marie was the last survivor from her family of 13 brothers and sisters.
Marie was a graduate of the Minneapolis School of Cosmetology and worked in several beauty shops in Madison before her marriage on March 5, 1932 to the late John K. Eagan. When John and Marie moved to Wautoma, she worked for Ida?s Beauty Salon and also loved sports and played on the women?s softball team for Ida?s Beauties. She always reminded her sons and grandchildren that she also played ball. Marie enjoyed watching her family play sports and other functions. She attended their games even when her sight began to fail her, but she would still go and listen to what was going on. Marie was an avid golfer and was a member of the original women?s golf league at the Waushara Country Club. Marie and her late husband John enjoyed square dancing and teaching. She was also a member of Wautoma Women?s Bridge Club and loved the game of Bridge.
Marie was the ultimate mother from the time she had her first child to the last great-grandchild she was always caring for her family. In all of those years she was always there for her family which was her number one goal in her life. Marie was also a very religious person; she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Parish for 59 years. She was a member of the Little Flower Society which was started by the late Rev. George Weix. She lived her life by her religion and faith.
Survivors include her three sons, Gary J. Eagan, Wautoma, Michael A. (Norma) Eagan, Wautoma and Dean J. (Jan) Eagan, Wautoma: four grandchildren, David K. (Susan) Eagan, Appleton, John J. (Anita) Goland, Appleton, and Chad R. Goland, Oshkosh. Also survived by eight great grandchildren, Chase, John, Clark, Sam, Jack, Will, Harleigh, and Olivia Eagan and step great grandchildren, Alec, Carly, Graham, and Izabella Goland. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband John K. Eagan, a son Daniel C. Eagan, who died in infancy, her parents George and Mary Ring and 12 brothers and sisters, along with her father and mother-in-law Harley and Blanch Eagan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 24, 2005 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma. The Rev. Philip Dinh- Van-Thiep will officiate the services which will be held at 10:30 a.m. with visitation at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. A parish prayer service will begin at 9 a.m. Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband at Calvary Cemetery, Wautoma. A reception will follow in the Church hall.
