Elsie was born November 22, 1923 in Coleman, Texas to the late Robert Bruce and Grace Viola Snedegar Clark. She was reared in Coleman where she attended the Coleman Schools. Elsie married John Edwin Bull in Coleman on September 30, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1975. She married E. E. (Bud) Smith in Austin in March of 1979 and Bud preceded her in death in 1994. Elsie lived in West Texas moving back to Coleman in 1975. She owned and operated Little Bo Peep children’s store from 1976 until 1985. She was a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ and moved to Austin in 1994 where she has since resided.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Sandra Bull of Austin; grandson, Ryan Edward Bull of Washington, D. C; four sisters, Thelma and husband Cecil Hobbs of Midland, Dorothy Tunis of Sedalia, Missouri, Jean and husband Sherwood Downey of Coleman, Barbara and husband Bob Farley of Coleman; sister-in-law, Ruby Arms of Coleman; niece, Freda Burton of Coleman; and numerous nieces and nephews outside of Coleman. Pallbearers were Bob Farley, Brett Farley, Scott Farley, Mike Downey, Pat Downey and Randy Upton.

Three sisters and brothers-in-law: Jean and Sherwood Downey of Coleman; Thelma and Cecil Hoggs, of Midland, Texas; and Dorothy Tunis of Selada, Missouri. Funeral services will be at 10:00am Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at the Walker Funeral Chapel in Coleman with Mr. Donald Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under direction of Walker Funeral Home of Coleman.

Neighbors turned in the fire alarm, but when the city fire department arrived, they found the doors locked and the house smoke filled. They were unable to reach Anders in time to save him. His body was found, face downward in the southeast room of the house. He was pronounced dead by Coroner Dr. Ray Lyle. Mr. Anders was born at Van Buren Missouri on January 27, 1921, the son of the late John R. and Mary M Samples Anders. On May 28, 1949 he was united in marriage with Mrs. Leta Chadwick who survives at the home. also surviving are his son: Larry Don Anders and his daughter: Miss Karen Kay Anders of Kansas City; 2 step-children: Cleo Chadwick of Kansas City and Mrs. Loretta Witherell of Versailles; 3 brothers: Earl Anders of Waldern Missouri, Merris Anders of Kansas City and John L. Anders of Boone Iowa; a sister: Mrs. Florence Grisham of Platte City Missouri and 5 step-grandchildren. Mr. Anders was a Veteran of World War II.
Funeral services were held at Kidwell Funeral home, Rev. J.N. Delong officiating. Burial and graveside services in Walnut Grove cemetery at Parksville Missouri.
