Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fordyce with Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at the church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. The Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington is handling the arrangements.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ann Kramer, Scott Kramer, Stephanie Myers and Eleanor Smyth. Active Pallbearers will be Frank Lammers, Jon Lammers, Chris Lammers, Nick Lammers, Travis Lammers, Chad Reifenrath, Casey Reifenrath and Todd Kramer.

Roger was born on December 11, 1938 at Hartington, Nebraska to Ludwig Anthony and Rosalia Catherine (Steffen) Lammers, the oldest of 7 children. He attended the Lammers Ranch Country School and St John the Baptist Elementary School in Fordyce. Roger graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1956. Farming was his life's vocation.

Roger was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where he served on the parish council and was a lector for Sunday masses. He also served for 9 years on the Advisory Council for the Farm Credit Services. He liked to read and attend cattle sales. Roger's hope was that as he grew older he would be able to live on the farm where he was born and raised. God granted him this wish.

Roger is survived by a brother, Kenneth and Juanita Lammers of Hartington; 3 sisters, Janet and Ron Kramer of Pierce, NE; Judy and Rodney Mace of Tyndall, SD; Kathy and Mick Reifenrath of Crofton, NE; a sister-in-law, Phyllis (Kremer) Lammers of Hartington and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rose Mary Lammers and a brother, Norman Lammers.

Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 2 p.m., and 7 p.m., and a vigil service and video tribute at 7:30 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Pallbearers will be his sons, Merle, Larry, Dennis, Allen, Glenn, Don, Marvin, and Dave Loecker. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was born on Feb. 20, 1919, to Sigismund and Mary (Mauch) Loecker on the farm northwest of Fordyce. He was baptized, received his First Communion and was confirmed in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Menominee. He graduated from the eighth grade at St. Boniface School. He married Vera Elizabeth Albers on Aug. 21, 1939, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fordyce. They rented a farm 3 ½ miles northwest of Fordyce until he purchased his farm three miles north of Fordyce in March of 1943. In 1976, they moved to Hartington. Vera died on Sept. 19, 1997, at the age of 79 years. He then lived with Dennis and Vivian Loecker and Paulette and John Dreesen until he moved to Pine Lane Assisted Living in August of 2002. In April of 2005, he moved to Beverly Health Care Nursing Home where he resided until his death. He was a trustee for St. Boniface Parish in Menominee, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Ministry of Praise, Holy Trinity Catholic Church and its Perpetual Adoration in Hartington. Emil loved baseball, playing cards, and hunting. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by ten children and their spouses, Merle (Sandy) Loecker of Hartington, Larry (Judith) Loecker of Evanston, Illinois, Dennis (Vivian) Loecker of Fordyce, Allen (Sheila) Loecker of Mitchell. SD, Glenn (Mary) Loecker of Fordyce, Gladys (Arnold) Jones of Louisville, Don (Denise) Loecker of McCook, Marvin (Deb) Loecker of Olathe, Kan., Paulette (John) Dreesen of Hartington, David (Deb) Loecker of Fordyce; 39 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren.
Preceding Emil in death were his parents; wife, Vera; one granddaughter, Kristi Loecker; five brothers, Henry, Martin, Ignatius, Victor, and Robert; four sisters, Katherine Zavadil, Ann Kuchta, Loretta Lammers, and Rose Fischer.
