Mildred and her twin, Margaret, were the 1st of 4 sets of twins born to Loyd and Lena Dunn. The family moved to a farm near Dickey, ND where Mildred attended country school and graduated from Dickey High School.
On June 2, 1942 Mildred married John Rupp in Dickey, ND. They made their home on the family farm northeast of Edgeley where they raised their 11 children. They moved into Edgeley in 1981. John passed away Feb. 11, 1992. In May 2005, Mildred moved to Rosewood Court in LaMoure, ND. She passed away in her home Friday, September 1, 2006.
Mildred was a strong, resourceful, hard-working woman with many talents. Her numerous hobbies included ceramics, making silk flowers, embroidery, sewing, crocheting, reading, jigsaw puzzles, baking and gardening. She taught her children the importance of kindness and giving to and thinking of others. Mildred and John fostered a love of music in their children with family sing-alongs and music playing while they worked. Mildred loved to dance. In fact, she met John at a dance. Family meant everything to her. She was involved in the Catholic Altar Society, EdgeEtte Homemakers Club, Club With No Name and Ladies VFW.
Mildred is survived by 5 daughters and 4 sons: Maureen (Darryl) Ellingson, Berlin ND; Kay (Wayne) Carlson, Gilroy CA; Dennis (Kathy) Rupp, Chandler AZ; CJ/Clarence (Pat) Rupp, Marietta GA; Karen (Don) Feist, Berlin ND; Deb Mathern, Fargo ND; Steve (Sandi) Rupp, Edgeley ND; Janine (Mike) Buckeye, Gillette WY; Brent (Mary) Rupp, Lee Summit MO, 26 grandchildren & 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 8 sisters, Margaret Kratz, Monica Thomas, Veronica Barbret, Rosanna Doyle, Dorothy Morisette, Winnie Weiss, Clara Yore, Carol DeLoach, and two brothers, Willie & Jim Dunn. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, John, two daughters, Bonnie Mollohan and Sandy Hanson, three sisters Marian Monson, Maurine Dunn and Joanne Ashlin and one brother Francis (Bud).
Funeral – 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND with Father Duaine Cote officiating.
Prayer Service – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Transfiguration Catholic Church, Edgeley, ND
Visitation – 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Lisko Funeral Chapel, Edgeley, ND and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
