William Calvin Robbins died on 17 December 2007 at age 81 William "Bill" Robbins, 81, of County W, New Diggings, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Haudenshield Funeral Home, Cuba City, with Pastor Ron Fladseth officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery, New Diggings, where military rites will be accorded. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where there will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. He was born on June 25, 1926, in New Diggings, son of John and Rebecca (Levitt) Robbins. He was an Army veteran, serving in World War II. Following his discharge from the service, he married Lois Jean Mechler on Aug. 27, 1949, at the United Methodist Church, Cuba City. He farmed in the New Diggings area. He also worked in the construction and plumbing business. He was proud of being a master plumber. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in New Diggings, and a Masonic member. He enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. He also enjoyed talking and visiting with people. He most loved time spent with family and friends. His hobby was photography. He and Lois would spend their winters in Arizona. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his wife, Lois; a daughter, Vickie (Daryle) Bennett, of New Diggings; three sons, Kerry (Lori) Robbins and Tim (Crystal) Robbins, both of New Diggings, and Cal (Linda) Robbins, of Benton; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; a sister, Eleanor Alderson, of Benton; and two sisters-in-law, Catherine Robbins and Anna Robbins. He was preceded in death by a son, Mike, in 1977; his parents; two brothers, his twin brother, Bob Robbins, and Francis Robbins; and a sister, Audrey.
