After Willard’s premature death in 1973, she married William Kenneth Young and they enjoyed the years together until his death in 2007.

She was a great life-partner, mother and homemaker. Words that best describe her are vibrant, resilient, generous and kind-hearted. She made her family’s needs her top priority and she lived in many communities where she connected with her church families, most recently, Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingsville, Texas.

LaVerne is survived by her children; her grandchildren, Holly Lynn (Kent) Purser of Apple Valley, California, and Chad (Laura) Elmer of Hesperia, California; her great-granddaughter Morgan Olivia Elmer; two brothers, Edward (Norma) Stackman of Muscoda and Wayne (Jackie) Stackman of Boise, Idaho; her extended Kentucky family; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. The family thanks LaVerne’s extraordinary caregivers, Alicia Alvarez, Charlesetta Chinapoo, Lorraine Greenwood and her special friends Ernesto “Plato” Alvarez, Higinio Sanchez-Vera, Jonell Studnicka and Vicki Tijerina for filling her final days with peace and love in the place she most wanted to be —home.

The Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, Kingsville, Texas is assisting the family.
