Death5 December 2011Robert Carl Holtz died on 5 December 2011 at age 88 Robert Carl Holtz, age 88, of Loganville, formerly of Reedsburg, passed away suddenly on Monday afternoon, December 5, 2011, at his home in Loganville. He was born on July 30, 1923 in rural North Freedom, the son of Adolph and Winifred (Dickie) Holtz. On December 8, 1944, he was united in marriage to the former Dorothy Stackman. Bob and Dorothy made their home in Reedsburg for many years. Together they owned and operated Holtz Lime & Gravel for over 25 years. In 1986, they sold the business to their daughter and son-in-law. Bob continued to work part-time as a driver spreading and hauling ag lime to generations of area farmers for many years. He was always proud to tell people about the farms he knew so well and the fields he had traveled many times over the years. Bob and Dorothy enjoyed many great times dancing to their favorite bands – something he always said helped keep him young. In 2005, they moved to Loganville near their daughter. Bob always said that the move was the best as he enjoyed being in the country and watching the farmers plant and harvest. He also enjoyed countless hours fishing at his favorite private pond. Survivors include his wife of nearly 67 years, Dorothy; his daughters: Jean (Earl) Keller, of San Luis Obispo, CA and Sharyl (Darrell) Schlieckau, of Loganville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He is also survived by his "little white dog", Dolly, who was his best pal and was beside him to the very end. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond, and his sister, Edith Davis. In keeping with Bob’s wishes, private family funeral services will be held with interment at the Greenwood Cemetery in Reedsburg. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.

We are a blessed community to have this facility, but without the special staff it is only a building. Everyone there – from the administration, maintenance, dietary, housekeeping, nursing and especially dedicated CNAs made her feel very safe this past year and a half in her own little "corner of the world." Each of you truly are angels here on earth. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.
