By trade he was a carpenter and had served as road superintendent for Orangeville. Weeks Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Janice was born October 23, 1942 near Tripp, SD, to Sam and Amalia (Schmidt) Weisz and raised on a farm east of Parkston. She married Jerry Roth on May 26, 1963 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kaylor, SD. To this union, one son, Tom, and two daughters, Tamara and Fonda, were born. She farmed with Jerry east of Parkston, SD. Following retirement, she resided in Yankton and spent the winters in Donna, Texas.

Throughout her life, Janice was a loving mother, devoted homemaker, caring friend and a woman of deep faith. She is fondly remembered for her sewing, baking and cooking. She had a green thumb and loved spending time gardening and working in her flower garden. She enjoyed volunteering at the church: teaching Sunday school, serving & sewing for altar guild, and working at the soup kitchen. She was known for her ability to fix anything that needed fixing. Janice especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Roth of Yankton, SD; daughter, Tamara (Dominic) Gambino of Eden Prairie, MN; son, Tom (Sara) Roth of Mission Hill, SD and daughter, Fonda (Chad) Lacey of Yankton, SD; nine grandchildren: Nicholas, Sienna, and Michael Gambino; Jessica, Brian, Mitch, and Kelly Roth; and Ashley and Victor Lacey; brothers and sisters: Roy (JoAnn) Weisz of Parkston, SD, Lawrence (Alice) Weisz of Parkston, SD, Kenneth(Marie) Weisz of Parkston, SD , Lila (Wilmer) Frohreich of Yankton, SD, Geneva (Lloyd) Sorlien of Scotland, SD, Diana (Rudy) Jerke of Scotland, SD, Richard (Cheryl) Weisz of Sturgis, SD, and Robert (Laura) Weisz of Mitchell, SD; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Betty and Mary Ann Weisz.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Yankton, with Rev. Dani Jo Ninke officiating. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Monday, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory with a memory sharing and scripture service at 7:30 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery.
