She was born April 2, 1922, at Clayton to Edward C. and Anna A. (Rolf) Retzlaff. She was baptized on April 30, 1922, and confirmed on April 5, 1936, at Zion Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake, where she remained a faithful, lifelong member.

Lorraine was raised in the Clayton/Turtle Lake area and graduated from Clayton High School in 1940. She was employed at the Turtle Lake Creamery prior to her marriage to Joseph Kuntz on Nov. 18, 1943.

She was a homemaker and actively involved in the family farm with her husband. Lorraine was a charter member of the Zion Lutheran Church Altar Guild.

She loved to travel, cook and play cards. Lorraine also enjoyed bird watching, gardening and reading. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She cherished every moment she spent with them.

Surviving are a son, James (Karen) of Clayton; daughters, Bonnie (Alfred) Thill of Almena and Nancy (Mark) Erickson of Cumberland; grandchildren, Brent (Sue) Thill, Brian (Abbie) Thill, Betsy (Kyle) Scribner, Sara Jo Kuntz, Kelli Kuntz, Travis Erickson, Ami Erickson and Jordan Erickson; and great-grandchildren, Vicky Frandsen, Blake Thill, Mariah Lorraine Thill and Mitchel Scribner.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years; and brothers, Raymond and Clarence.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, from Zion Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Emmons officiating and burial at St. Ann Cemetery, Turtle Lake. Pallbearers were her grandchildren Brent Thill, Brian Thill, Betsy Scribner, Sara Jo Kuntz, Kelli Kuntz, Travis Erickson, Ami Erickson and Jordan Erickson. Honorary pallbearers were Margaret Greschner, Dorothy Heintz, Edward and Helen Erickson and Harold and Rose Strasser.

Skinner Funeral Home, Turtle Lake, handled arrangements.
