During World War II, her father was a lieutenant colonel in the Army, so much of her youth was spent moving from one base to another; one year she went to five different schools. Eventually the family returned to Idaho, and Sandra graduated from Boise High School in 1950. That fall she made a big leap, moving to Eugene to enroll at the University of Oregon. There she majored in speech and drama, was active in the University Theatre, and served as president of her sorority, Delta Gamma. She also met her future husband Gordon G. Rennie, whom she described as an "Adonis", while they were students there. He was equally smitten with her! Sandy graduated in June of 1954, and she and Gordon were married on August 14 of that year. They set up housekeeping on part of the Rennie family property in east Springfield, where Gordon had grown up. Sandra often referred to herself as a professional volunteer, and certainly she never lacked for things to do. She was a longtime, active member of P.E.O. She co-founded the downtown Springfield marketplace Antique Peddler, and spent years buying, selling and evaluating antiques. Her interest in theater continued long after college, and she appeared in plays at the Robinson Theatre and the Very Little Theatre. Over the years, she amassed a huge collection of costumes and hats, which she was happy to share with other local performers. In the 1970s she became active in city government, serving two terms on the Springfield City Council before becoming Mayor. In her 60s, she began an eight-year adventure with Encore Theatre, a local organization dedicated to connecting elders with youth through shows based on the performers' lives. Encore and Sandy were a perfect fit: not only could she sing, act and tap-dance, but she was a kindred spirit for every child she met. She performed in four Encore troupes and several residencies in detention facilities, and served for four years on the board of directors. In early childhood, Sandra formed a lifelong bond with five Boise friends, who have stayed in close touch over eight decades. In retirement, their much-anticipated annual get-togethers included a trip to Paris and a 65th high school reunion! Sandra and Gordon never stopped adoring each other. When he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, she cared for him herself until that became impossible. He moved to Elder Health and Living, and she was with him every single day until he died in 2014. While he was still ambulatory, she often took him for car trips and ice cream cones. Her dedication was a legend among the staff. Sandra died on May 17, 2016, in East Sound, Washington. She is survived by her son, Dr. Bill Rennie of Patchogue, NY; daughter, Karen Rennie and son-in-law, Leonard Sweet of East Sound; brother- and sister-in-law, Bill and Suzanne Rennie of Springfield; and six grandchildren: Vaughn, Emma, Alex, Thane, Soren, and Egil.

She was beloved mother to Clifford Stone, Cameron Stone, Jacqueline Wyatt, Lorinda Jenkins, Collen Pioli, Donna Malone, Stephanie Cannon, Shawn Dorman, Roger Dorman, Jr. Lora Gonzalez, Kamron Dorman and Stephe Dorman. She also will be missed by her niece and nephews and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She also left behind her co-workers Lisa MacMillan, Michelle Stillson and Robin Mills, who were actually more like family.
Louise loved Ridgecrest and could often be found staring out her living room window or sitting on her back porch looking the town over. She enjoyed working with the public at State Farm Insurance and loved being the first person everyone saw when they entered the office. She always greeted everyone who came in with a smile.
Many people have commented over the years on her wonderful laugh. She had an amazing way of making everyone feel welcome and cherhised. For all who are feeling her loss, just remember to embody her characteristics of one, patience, kindness, forgiveness and laughter, and then she will live on.
