Lutheran Church, Hillpoint, on June 5, 1946. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, having taught Sunday School, was a member of the Ladies’ Aid, was a janitor at St. Paul, and served as a representative for the Lutheran Layman’s League for many years. Verna was also a very giving person.     

She had a passion for quilting, playing cards with her Card Club, and watching baseball, basketball, and football. Her favorite teams were the Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Bucks, WI Badgers and Green Bay Packers. She looked forward to exercising and visiting at RAMC rehab.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Gerhart, Hugo, Arnold, Clarence, John, and Harold; sister, Arlene Westphal, and infant grandson Bret Brandt.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Gerhardt Brandt of Hillpoint.

He was born on June 4, 1921, in Sauk County at the family farm, the son of Irwin and Lydia (Ohland) Brandt. He was married to Verna Muchow at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Hillpoint, on June 5, 1946, and celebrated 70 years of marriage. Gerhardt and Verna farmed together in rural Hillpoint. They enjoyed card parties with friends and family. He was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he and Verna served as janitor for 30 years, also mowing lawn for the church and cemeteries. He was a school bus driver for Claude Box and then the Weston School District for over 20 years.

Gerhardt enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, Spring Training in Arizona, also on his new TV, and was especially excited when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016 for the first time in 108 years. While at the Sauk County Health Care Center, he touched the lives of the residents and staff with his humor and strong-willed ways.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Brandt, on July 31, 2016, parents, infant sister, infant brother, and infant grandson Bret Brandt.

He is survived by his children, Betty (Don) Davis of Reedsburg, Merlin (Cindy Spencer) of Hillpoint, Leana (Dave) Crary of Richland Center, Lori Dee of La Valle; 12 grandchildren, Bradley (Angi Fry) Brandt, Meadow (Scott) Mears, Spencer (Nikki) Davis, Adam (April) Brandt, Nicole Brandt, Daniel (Brandi) Brandt, Max (Amanda) Brandt, Sam (Brittany Acker) Brandt, Amy Crary, Jeremy Crary, Manda (Bruce) Hansen, Taylor Dee (Colleen Smith); 27 great-grandchildren, Dawson, Autumn, Alexis, Nick, Jaden, Dylan, Davis, Andi, Kaleb, Kadee, Emery, Reegan, Trenna, Gracy, Ally, Robby, Kendall, expecting new great-grandson in November, Hailey, Braydon, Avery, Addison, Libby, Trenton, Landen, Deegan, Ava, Fallyn; two great-great-grandsons Bentley and Peyton; brother, Melvin Brandt of Baraboo; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends, including special friends, Bill, Eugene, and Russ and Ivy Hoege.

Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, rural Hillpoint.

She was a kid at heart having fun on roller coasters, playing cards and bowling. Her fanatical passion for sports was evident by what was on TV; Brewers, Cardinals and football. Arlene was always encouraging and enjoyed trying new things. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Gerhardt, Hugo, Arnold, Clarence, John and Harold.

He was born on September 3, 1927, in Sauk County, Wisconsin, the son of William and Selma (Lattenstein) Westphal. He grew up on a farm in Hillpoint. Don attended Woodlawn School, graduated from Reedsburg Area High School and attended two years of Sauk County Normal School. On May 31, 1952, Don was united in marriage to Arlene V. Muchow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillpoint. Don and Arlene remained on the family farm where Don devoted his life to farming and raising his five children. He was self-taught in the field of electronics and was a television repairman on the side. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was very committed to his faith, serving as an Elder, choir member and Sunday school teacher.

Don was a family man who enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, as well as the Packers and Brewers. He loved the outdoors and fishing was a favorite pastime. He looked forward to conversations with his friends and had a kind word for everyone. Don was deeply loved by his children, and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, on April 8, 2012; his parents; brother, Raymond (Rose) Westphal; sisters, Bernice (Alvin) Meyer; and Arline (Raymond) Meyer.

Gall, of Lyndon Station and Ellen (Steve) Thorne, of Hillpoint; eight grandchildren: Devon Gall, Michelle (Kyle) Hendrickson, Kevin, Lydia, Alex and Celia Gall, Jason (Toni) Thorne and Matthew Thorne; two great grandsons: Trenton Hendrickson and Colt Thorne; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, on July 6, 2013; an infant son: Edward Harold Gall and her parents. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.

Harlen was employed by House of Harmony mobile home manufactures as a technician for many years. He also had worked for American Motors and Wisconsin Dairies. On weekends Harlen tended the Washington Township Dump. Harlen married June Paukstat on May 10, 1997, in Hillpoint at St. John's Lutheran Church. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hillpoint and the Hillpoint VFW Post 3434. Harlen is survived by his wife, June Paukstat, Rock Springs; three children, Michael (Judy) Muchow, McAllen, Texas, LaReen (Kevin) EIfers, Milltown, and Sheri (Tim) Nelson, Taylors Falls, Minn; six grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Muchow, Christine, Heather and Ashley Elfers, and Timothy Nelson; a brother, Marvin (Dolores) Muchow, Loganville; a sister, Della (Duane) Griffin, Reedsburg; a sister-in-law Evelyn Muchow; six nieces and nephews, Loella (Don) Breight, Luann (Louis) Hoff, Lisa (Pat) Farber, Susan (John) Vater, Duane Muchow, and Wendy (Pat) Biba and their families and many other relatives and friends. Harlen was preceded in death by his father, Herman; his mother, Adela; an infant brother, Ernest; an infant sister, Grace; two brothers Raymond and Roger; and two nephews, Roger (Duffer) Muchow and David Muchow. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hillpoint with Pastor Richard Agenten officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Hillpoint. Friends called on Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Redlin Funeral Home and may call today, Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Military rites will be accorded at the grave.

He was born Nov. 7, 1927, in the Town of Washington, Sauk County, the son of Herman and Adela (Radatz) Muchow. On Oct. 29, 1949, he was married to the former Dolores M. Elfers. Marvin served in the Army and was active on school, town and church boards. He was a dedicated farmer until his retirement. Marvin enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hillpoint.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores; three children, Susan (John) Vater of Middleton, Duane (Dustan Helmer) Muchow of Baraboo, and Wendy (Joe) Meyer of Reedsburg; four grandchildren, Jason (Sarah) Vater of Mazomanie, Scott (Denise) Vater of Portage, Kyle Biba and Kelly Biba both of Loganville; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Della (Gary) Griffin of Reedsburg; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Muchow of Reedsburg and June Paukstat of Rock Springs; a brother-in-law, Richard (Linda) Elfers of Waukesha; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David and Roger; a sister, Grace Muchow; and four brothers, Ernest, Roger, Raymond and Harlan Muchow.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hillpoint with Pastor Tim Anderson officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
