His greatest joy was his wife of 60 years and his family. Charles is survived by his wife, Loretta of DeForest; a son, Dennis (Nadine) Nygren of Kent, Ohio; a daughter, Lesley (Steven) Mylrea of Monona; and four grandchildren, Kimberly (Joseph) Cox, Larissa (Micah) Carrick, Darren Mylrea (fiancee, Heather) and Gavin Mylrea. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Carol Jean; and a sister, Doris Montague. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, with the Rev. Nick Utphall presiding. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church or Anderson Senior Choir.

She was active in the church, helping with funeral lunches and involved in the women's circle. Loretta had a wonderful singing voice, and was a member of the church choir. She cared for her husband during his illness and also for her cousins. Loretta was a fabulous wife, mother and grandmother. Loretta is survived by her son, Dennis (Nadine) of Kent, Ohio; a daughter, Lesley (Steven) Mylrea of Monona; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Joseph) Cox, Larissa (Micah) Carrick, Darren (Heather) Mylrea and Gavin Mylrea; two great-granddaughters, Elena Carrick and Evelyn Cox; a sister, Phyllis (John Paul) Helker of Waukesha; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Carol Jean; two brothers, Robert and William Poeppel; and two sisters, Margaret Demmett and Viola Hatch. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Nick Utphall presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. After their m 1869 they came to DT 1873, settled 1 mile west of where Presb. cemetery is now located. They lost four children during diptheria epidemic; Anna Vavruska, Joseph and Adolph survived.
    Grandfather Vincent Uherka was b 1845 in Velke Ubusin Moravia, Grandmother Theresa Bednar at Chlum Moravia 1850. After their m at Chlum 1869 they came to US 1873, settled at Ely IA 4 years. Coming to DT 1877, they settled just north of where Presb. cemetery in now located. They had 5 children: Joseph, Vincent, Mary Pluhar, Rosie and Emily Valach (Emily Broz's mother).
