She was born on Feb. 17, 1924, in Bellevue, daughter of C. Vin and Teresa (Kueter) Daugherty.

Jean was a Nurse Anesthetist CRNA, working for St. Anthony Hospital in Carol, Iowa, St. Clare Hospital in Monroe, Wis., and Medical Associates in Dubuque, until her retirement.

Jean was a generous and caring person who volunteered for many years at the American Red Cross and St. Joseph's Church and School.

In addition to quiet nights spent reading, crocheting and visiting with friends and family, Jean also enjoyed traveling. She was the family historian, who was much loved by her relatives, and treated her nieces and nephews as her own. She was extremely proud of her Irish Heritage.

Those left to honor her memory are her four sisters, Helen Mulligan, of Garden City, S.C., Sr. Gertrude Daugherty, of La Crosse, Wis., Mary Lou (Dorrence) Koppes, of Peoria, Ariz., and Sr. Betty Daugherty, of Hiawatha, Iowa; four sisters-in-law, Agnes Daugherty, of Redwood Valley, Calif., Helen Daugherty, Betty Daugherty and Rita Daugherty, all of Bellevue; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers, Neil, Charles, William Gregory, John, Patrick and Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque.

Bernadine lived in a number of places throughout her life starting in Clyde, WI then to Highland, WI, followed by Madison, Brookfield, WI, then Brooksville, FL, and finally moving to the Green Bay area to be closer to family. Bernadine is survived by her children: Kathleen (Charles) Riley, of Green Bay, WI, Colleen (Whitney) Powell, of Rancho Cordova, CA, Patrick (Heidi) Ternes, of Austin, TX, Mary Jo (Wayne Hlinicky) Ternes, of Guthrie, OK, and Jean (Kurt) Attermeier, of Spring Grove, IL; nine grandchildren: Sarah (Ben Vander Zanden) Hanna, Christina (John) Harrison, Scott (Alice Baker) Beardsley, Kylie Ternes, Koryn Ternes, Madisen Hlinicky, Bryan (Charis Paisley) Attermeier, Kevin (Raffa Corsi) Attermeier, and Kathryn Attermeier; four great grandchildren: Noah, Luke, Isabella, and Hunter. She is further survived by her two sisters Irene Salava and Lorraine Schram; sisters-in-law Millie Nondorf, Alice Nondorf, Virginia Nondorf, and Doris Ternes; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William J. Ternes; and her siblings: Herbert Nondorf, Don Nondorf, Marie Jelle, Bob Nondorf, and Bud Nondorf.Inurnment next to her husband will be held at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, Brooksville, FL.
