His wife, daughter, son-in-law, grandson, granddaughter-in-law and grandson-in-law were there with him in his quiet passing to see the Lord.
Lloyd was born May 21, 1919 in Clive, Alberta, Canada. His family moved to Eatonville, WA when he was three years of age and later moved to Wapato, WA at the age of 10 years. Lloyd was raised in Wapato for the remainder of his school years, graduating from Wapato High School in 1938. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 serving his tour of Duty in World War II in the South Pacific. He received two Bronze Stars in the Philippines and one Bronze Star in Okinawa. After his discharge, he was employed by the Washington State Game Department and was stationed at the Wapato Game Farm.
In October 1947, Lloyd attended a Broadway Grange and met Olga Thomilson who he proposed to 6 months later. The two married June 24, 1949 in Yakima, WA at the home of Olga's brother, Henry Pomerenke. Pastor Roland Swanson of Central Lutheran Church of Yakima joined the two in Holy Matrimony. Mr. Cline began working for Darigold in Yakima in 1952 and ran the ice cream room. He retired after 21 years of service and in his spare time he and Olga purchased and maintained 17 rentals. After retiring at the age of 53 years, Lloyd and his loving wife, Olga, traveled the world extensively including the entire United States, Far East, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Caribbean, South America, and numerous trips to Canada, Missouri and Minnesota to spend time with family. Lloyd was actively involved in volunteering along side Olga in numerous organizations. Merry Mixer's group of Central Lutheran Church, Toastmasters of Yakima, Camaretta Club, Barber Shoppers, Central Washington Agricultural Museum (founders), Ashue Grange, Union Gap Lions Club, Yakima Gem and Mineral Club, Union Gap Community Days, Rebekah and Odd Fellows Lodge, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and various other organizations is where he enjoyed spending time.
Mr. Cline was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, bird watching, berry picking and all of God's outdoor creations. He was also known for his great sense of humor and his dying love for rock hunting. Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Olga of Hermiston; his only daughter, Barbara J. and son-in-law, Wayne Huwe, Jr. of Irrigon, OR; granddaughter, Lonette and grandson-in-law, Bruce Fedio if Hattiesburg, MS; grandson, Scott and granddaughter-in-law, Becky Wadekamper of Hermiston, OR; nephews John Evert of Seattle, WA, Kim Stone of Washington State, Robert Pomerenke and wife Linda of Gold Hill, OR, James Pomerenke and wife Rikki of Yakima, WA, nieces Menalee "Dolly" Adams of Auburn, WA, Pat Lowe and husband Bob of Spokane, WA and 34 additional nieces and nephews; great grandchildren, Logan Wright, Tyler and Breena Wadekamper of Hermiston, OR; step grandchildren, Kimberly Huwe of Las Vegas, NV and Kevin Huwe of Irrigon, OR.
Memorials may be made to Central Lutheran Church or to the Central Washington Agricultural Museum of Union Gap. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Central Lutheran Church at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2004. A private family burial will be held earlier at West Hills Memorial Park in Yakima. Viewing will be held Monday and Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Ninth Avenue.
