Virgil was born June 12, 1943 in Platteville, Wisconsin, the son of Robert and Lucille (Hildreth) Rupp. He was united in marriage to Jane Probst on April 29, 1967 in Aurora, Illinois. Together they had five children; Dan, Dayna, Liz, Ginger, and Corey. Virgil and Jane later amicably divorced. Virgil worked at All Steel in Montgomery, Illinois for many years. In the late 1970’s the family moved to Southwest Wisconsin where Virgil then worked as a farm hand. Virgil had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed sharing his passion of hunting, fishing, trapping, and reverence for the great outdoors with his children.

Virgil is survived by his children, Dan (Sandi) Rupp, Dayna (Bob) Rupp-Kilgore, Liz (Dan) Metz, Ginger (fiance, Richard Bloom) Schafer, Corey (Heather) Rupp, and eldest son from a prior marriage, Terry (Traci) Daringer; ex-spouse, Jane Probst; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth Rupp, Charles Rupp, Bernard (Janice) Rupp, Merle (Helen) Rupp, Delbert (Jane) Rupp, and Shirley (Larry) Hoffman; sister-in-law, Carolyn Rupp; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Douglas, James, and Delvin Rupp; sister, Ruth Rupp; and sisters-in-law, Donna and Rita Rupp.

Gus was born on April 11, 1933 to Delvan & Irene (Wiederholt) Timmerman on the family farm in rural Cuba City, WI, where he lived most of his life. He married Alvina E. Wehrspann on February 20, 1960 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dubuque, IA. Gus worked for 12 years at John Deere Dubuque Works, but farming is what he enjoyed best. He & Alvina purchased their first farm in 1967. He was proud of his Rotaflo milking parlor and would invite students from UW-Platteville to come and visit to see its operation. Gus enjoyed fishing, going on cruises with Alvina, wintering in Texas and summers spent up north, but most all, he enjoyed time spent with his family, grandchildren and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Gus is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Alvina; a daughter, Peggy Zickert of Dickeyville, WI; 5 sons: Dennis Timmerman of Cuba City, WI, Doug (Gretchen) Timmerman of Belleville, WI, Bruce (Kristine) Timmerman and Allen Timmerman both of Cuba City, WI & Brian Timmerman of Madison, WI; several grandchildren & great-grandchildren; a sister, Jeanette (Faber) Runde of Kieler, WI; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Anthony “Tony” Timmerman (June 8, 2008) and 2 sisters: Anita (Bernard “Bernie”) Runde and Mary Ann (Phil) Runde.

He worked at the Dubuque Packing Company for 25 years and retired in 1981. He was a member of the American Legion Post #104, a volunteer firefighter with the Jamestown Fire Department, Holy Name and of the Immaculate Conception Church in Kieler, WI. Gene enjoyed woodworking, gardening, proud Wisconsin sports fan and was an avid fisherman, but most of all he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
