Mr. Goetsch was born in Washington Township of Sauk County June 10, 1885. He represents the second generation of a hardy family that has had much to do with the clearing and development of the lands of Wisconsin. His parents Otto and Anna (Krueger) Goetsch, who now live at Reedsburg retired, were both born in Germany and on coming to America settled in Dodge County in 1861 and five years later moved to a new tract of land in Washington Township, clearing up and developing a farm for the use of their sons and daughters. Their children were: Walter, Esther, Elsie, William, Arthur and Otto. All except Arthur and Otto are married and established in homes of their own. Esther is the wife of Ernest Soltwedel. Elsie married William Harms of Westfield Township. William married Alma Wieslow. Walter Goetsch grew up and received his education in Washington Township, and on May 8, 1912, married Marie Harms, daughter of Henry and Louise Harms. Mr. and Mrs. Goetsch have one small daughter, Margaretta, now four years old. The Goetsch farm comprises 200 acres, including some of the best soil in Washington Township. It has a notable group of building improvements, and most of the buildings were constructed out of the native stone. One special feature of the farm is a large stone silo, and that gives tone and character to the quality of farming carried on by Mr. Goetsch. Mr. Goetsch besides growing the staple crops keeps about sixty head of cattle and runs a large dairy of about forty-three cows. In politics he is independent and is a member of the Lutheran Church.

Alma E. Huth died on 7 April 2018 at age 79 Alma E. (Huth) Jurgensen, 79, of Richland Center, WI, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Pine Valley Community Village, after a battle with cancer, with her children at her side. She was born September 30, 1938 the daughter of Norma (Soltwedel) and Emil Huth in Dayton Township. Alma attended grade school at the Huth School and graduated from the Richland Center High School in 1956. In 1958 Alma married Charles Jurgensen. She was the proud mother of Tom, Judy, and Jane, and worked at the Richland School District for over twenty years. After retiring she became a hospice volunteer with Upland Hills Hospice and worked at Lands’ End. Alma enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, hiking, traveling, and helping others.

Alma is survived by her children: Thomas (Kathy) Jurgensen, Judy (Peter) Janetski, Jane (Scott Vetter) Jurgensen; grandsons: Dustin (Samantha) Jurgensen, Cody Jurgensen, Jacob Janetski, Matthew Janetski; one great-granddaughter Addyson; siblings: John (Betty) Huth, Carl (Susan) Huth, Mary (John) Honer, Rosie (Ron) Steinmetz; brother-in-law Bob Jurgensen; sister-in-law Betty Bayne; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, brother-in-law Gene, and sister-in-law Lucille.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Richland Center at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in the Dayton Corners Cemetery. Friends may call at the Pratt Memorial Chapel Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, and again on Thursday April 12, 2018 at Saint John’s Lutheran Church from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born on April 9, 1921 in Twin Bluffs on the family farm, the son of Clifton and Helen (Nee) Barnett. He went to Sextonville High School and graduated as Valedictorian. He also played basketball there. He also attended UW-Platteville. He later enlisted in the Naval Air Corps. On December 5, 1946 Chuck married Mary Soltwedel at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Richland Center. The couple farmed until Chuck retired. He worked as a technician for Curtis Breeding Service. He was a state meat inspector for 12 years. Chuck was a member of the American Legion. He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lone Rock. Chuck loved his family very much. He was a kind and generous husband, father, and friend. He loved people and their funny stories. Chuck liked to fish and hunt and take trips to Canada with his sons. Chuck is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary, eight children; James (Linda) Barnett of Richland Center, Dan (JoAnne) Barnett of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jane (Dennis Stimart) Barnett of Verona, Wisconsin, William (Audrey) Barnett of Lone Rock, Nancy (Mark) Benkoske of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Ellen (Lyle) Perry of Lakewood, Colorado, Patrick (Ilona) Barnett of Germany, Thomas (Elizabeth) Barnett of Rozet, Wyoming. Chuck is further survived by fourteen grandchildren; Micheal (Tien) Barnett, Christopher (Jillian)Barnett, Hannah (Michael) Ross, Gillian (Jamison) Fincher, Mathew (Helen) Stanke, Kelly (Darren) Hoyland, Jodi (Tom) Delagrave, Julie Benkoske, John Benkoske, Robert (Amanda) Johnson, Brian Johnson, Kevin Barnett, Rosalee Barnett, Thomas (Falan) Barnett, eight step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his niece Judy Meuret, as well as other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Constance with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, at church, from 5-8:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at church one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton, NE.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Schieffer, Colton Schieffer, Jacob Honkomp, Preston Leise, Greg Sudbeck, and Stuart Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Loren's grandchildren.

Loren Robert Schieffer was born to William and Anna Mary (Schumacher) Schieffer on September 17, 1936 on a farm east of Crofton. He was the youngest of seven children. Loren attended elementary school at St. Joseph, Constance, for eight years and graduated from Crofton High School in 1954. When he was six years old his mother died of liver cancer. His father then married Julia Urban who helped raise the younger family. After graduation he worked at the Hartington Farm Store, then later in Laurel for his brother-in-law. On May 27, 1958, he married Juliena Lange at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic church in Bow Valley. They made their home on a farm south of St. James for almost three years, working for area farmers. In 1961 they moved to a farm east of Crofton and he became a dairy farmer. He served on the Crofton Creamery Board, School Board, and Mid-American Dairy Board. Loren was active in St. Joseph's church serving as usher, EMHC, and money counter through the years. Loren was a "Jack of All Trades" and loved to fix things. He built his home and all his farm buildings and enjoyed antique tractors. Loren was a 14 gallon blood donor.

Loren is survived by his wife of 58 years, Juliena of Crofton; five children, daughter Gwen and Dave Ptak of Hastings, NE - (daughters Erin & Stuart Anderson, Cari & fiance Elliot Koerting); son Marlen and Patty Schieffer of Fordyce, NE - (children Angela & Greg Sudbeck, Emily & Preston Leise, Allison, Andrew, & Colton); daughter Cheryl and Joe Honkomp of Richmond, IN - (children Jacob & fiancÃ© Mandy Toney, Lisle & Lauren); son Duane and Ginger Schieffer of Constance, NE - (children Quinn, Karley & Jack); son Brad and Sheila Schieffer of Crofton, NE - (children Calvin, Kelsey, Grant, & Layne); five great grandsons & another grandchild coming soon; sister Evelyn Stevens of Coleridge, NE; brother-in-law Harold Sudbeck of Laurel, NE; 3 nieces & two nephews.

She was taken from the family by Alzheimer’s but ultimately died from Covid. The family was able to be physically present with her in her last days.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Sts. Peter and Paul) Catholic Church in Bow Valley, Nebraska with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Burial will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Bow Valley. Visitation will be on Sunday, at church, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 4:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, at church, one hour prior to services. June Eileen was born on March 9, 1939 in Bow Valley, Nebraska to Anton J. and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Schulte. June was the youngest of 11 children. She grew up in the Bow Valley area and went to elementary school in Bow Valley. She went to Holy Trinity High School for her freshman and sophomore years and then graduated from Wynot High School. June then moved to Chicago where she went to school while also working for the railroad. She moved back to Nebraska and worked at the Yankton Medical Clinic. She also helped area families with housekeeping and babysitting children. She then moved to Phoenix to work for the airlines.

June married Linus William Lange on February 4, 1967 in Bow Valley. She and Linus had seven children. Later on June began working for the U.S. Postal service as a substitute driver for her brother Marty. She then had her own Highway Contract as a Route Carrier for over 20 years.

June was a member of the Sts. Peter & Paul Church and the Christian Mothers. She was involved with Catholic Deanery and attended many of their meetings. June originated and helped coordinate the first Schulte family reunion in 1990. She also was very proud of the centennial dresses she sewed for the Bow Valley Centennial with the help of her sister MaryAnn Hans. June loved to play cards and was in a card club for over 45 years. She enjoyed making bread, turning butter, canning and gardening. June liked to do special stamps on envelopes that she mailed and gave to people. She was a rosary leader at church and her faith was always very important to her. June also made many blankets for her grandchildren.

June is survived by her husband Linus of Bow Valley; six children and spouses Laura (Jay) Zimmerman of LaVista, NE, Christa (Bill) Uhing of Logan, IA, Diane (Mike) Nelson of Coleridge, Jodi (Timothy) Salvatori of Yankton, SD, Amy (Zane) Potratz of Spearfish, SD, John (Sheila) Lange of Fordyce, NE; 21 grandchildren; sister-in-law Lorraine Schulte of Hartington; brother Charles (Gennie) Schulte of Emerson, NE.
