Name TypeDateDescription
Name VariationMarjorie Tornberg was also known as Marge.
Married Name1953As of 1953,her married name was Klostergaard.
Life EventDateDescription
Birth1 June 1931Marjorie Tornberg was born on 1 June 1931.
Marriage1953She married Leland H. Klostergaard, son of Christian Lauritsen Klostergaard and Marie Ebsen, in 1953.
Death7 November 2023Marjorie Tornberg died on 7 November 2023 at age 92 Marjorie Karen (Tornberg) Klostergaard entered the gates of heaven on November 7, 2023 being welcomed by her Lord and Savior and into the wide open arms of her husband Leland (Nene) who we know has been patiently waiting for her. Marge is the daughter of Oscar and Lillian Tornberg and was born on June 1, 1931. Her childhood was spent on the Tornberg family farm south of Beresford and she graduated from Beresford High School in 1949.

Marge first met Nene as a very young girl when she helped her father deliver milk to Beresford residents. Nene always said he remembered the little blonde-haired girl dropping off the milk bottles at his grandparents. From milk bottles to marriage – Marge married Nene in 1953. Marge taught country school while Nene was in the army and later helped on the farm and with the clothing and shoe store in Beresford. Marge was very involved in the Beresford community and her church, serving on many boards and enjoyed being involved in many clubs. Upon retirement, they moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to their family.

Marge was well known for her caring and thoughtfulness. We always laughed that she kept the card companies and the post office in business as she sent a card including a handwritten note to many many family and friends over the years. Never a birthday, graduation, birth, or special occasion would go by without receiving a card from her. Marge loved planning and celebrating family holidays and birthdays. Marge loved to attend her grandchildren’s events – they always knew Grandma would be in the crowd cheering them on. Mom loved and will always be loved.

Marge, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Friend – she had many richly deserved titles. Marge’s family was very important to her and she was actively involved in their lives. Thankful and blessed to call her Mom are her four daughters, Kristy (John) Pedersen, Karen (Kevin) Graber, Vicki Oswald and Jean (Jim) Steffen. Always excited to see her and she made them feel so loved – calling her Grandma – Jeff (Cora) Pedersen, Laurie (Jonmichael) Martinez, Matt (Heying) Graber, Eric (Heather) Graber, Megan (Eric) Staebell, Scott (Kari) Oswald, Dan Oswald, Courtney Steffen, Gabe Steffen and Autumn (Wyatt) Fischer. Anxious for her gentle hugs and listening ear – knowing her as Great Grandma – Christian, Adelyn, Madison, Savannah, Kadin, Ellie, Aidy, Ira, Tate, Annika, James and Kit.

Greeting Marge in heaven were her parents, husband, son-in-law Mark Oswald, great grandson Rhett Oswald and her sisters Joyce Walmsley and Carol Willey and all dear family and friends who have gone before her. Marge will be greatly missed by her family including her brothers Gordon, Donald and Larry Tornberg, her sisters Arlene Carls and Ruth Eirschele, her in-laws, many many nieces and nephews and all who called her friend.

Visitation will be Friday, November 17, 2023 from 5 – 7 pm with a prayer service at 7 pm at Wass Funeral Home, Beresford, SD. Her funeral service will be on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10 am at Emmanual Lutheran Church, Beresford SD.
