Bradley Chris Klostergaard, was born on September 8, 1959 in Canton, SD to Corky and Roberta (Peterson) Klostergaard. Brad was raised on the farm with his two younger sisters, Marla and Ann. He attended North Star Country School through the 6th Grade and then went on to graduate from Beresford High School in 1977. After high school, Brad attended Mitchell Tech where he earned his degree in Ag Business. On June 9, 1990, Brad and Linda (Knobloch) Klostergaard were united in marriage and on that day, he also welcomed Angela as his daughter. Together they were blessed with four more children Bryce, Karmen, Alison and Morgan. Brad and Linda lived and raised their family on the third generation Klostergaard farm.

Brad’s love for agriculture started at a young age and quickly evolved into a lifelong career. In 1975, he began working at the Sioux Falls Stockyards alongside his dad. In 2006, Brad and his partners opened SFRL (Sioux Falls Regional Livestock). Throughout his career, Brad became very active and well respected in the livestock industry. He served on many boards, including former President of the South Dakota Livestock Markets Association. Not only was this lifestyle Brad’s chosen career, it was a passion that was evident to all who had the privilege of working with him. He also enjoyed farming and had the pleasure of sharing it with his son. Checking the cows with Bryce and driving through the pasture, where he spent countless hours, was one of Brad’s favorite pastimes.

Family was a top priority for Brad and quality time with his wife, children and grandchildren were the moments he cherished the most. When his children were younger, Brad encouraged them to participate in every sport and extracurricular activity possible. He especially enjoyed their involvement with judging and showing livestock. If Brad and Linda weren’t at events supporting their children, they could often be found at the lake where many memories were made. For the past 20 years, Lake Okoboji served as a relaxing getaway for Brad, his family and friends.

In 2014, when Brad was diagnosed with cancer, he and his family began the fight of a lifetime. While he spent the five and a half years fighting, every moment was filled with a positive attitude and unwavering faith. The journey strengthened his relationship with Christ, and he was baptized in the Apostolic Christian Church on March 4, 2018.

Brad found joy in making others laugh, he will be remembered for his quick wit and one of a kind personality. He had a sincere heart that always put others before himself. His entire life was spent nurturing and serving those he loved, even until his final day. Brad was a genuine husband, father, papa, son, brother, uncle, colleague and friend – he will be greatly missed by so many.

Left to cherish Brad’s memory is his dear wife of 29 years, Linda Klostergaard of Beresford, SD; mother, Roberta Klostergaard of Vermillion, SD; daughter, Angela Knobloch (Ashton) of Minneapolis, MN; Bryce Klostergaard of Beresford, SD; Karmen (Casey) Peters of Harrisburg, SD; Alison Klostergaard of Sioux Falls, SD; and Morgan (Jake) Newborg of Beresford, SD; grandchildren, AJ, Amirion, Amayah, Adahlia, Anorah and Lakynn; sisters, Marla (Steve) Meyer of Pensacola, FL, and Ann (Roger) Filips of Hartington, NE; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Dale) Hartzler of Marshallville, OH, Shirley (Bob) De Smet of Alvord, IA, Donna (Mike) Barber of Sioux Falls, SD, and Chalea Knobloch of Alvord, IA; along with many extended family members.

Brad was preceded in death by his father, Corky Klostergaard; parents-in-law, Art and Elgeva Knobloch; brothers-in-law, Vern Knobloch and Loren Knobloch.

Betty was a treasure to all who knew her. She was heavily involved in numerous organizations within Bowman including the Homemakers Club, 4-H, Circle, the quilting group at Bowman Lutheran Church, and was a volunteer at the Cedar Chest. She hosted numerous visitors at coffee time in the neighborhood, hence a doorbell on the front and back door. Additionally, she was a great cook, somewhat creative at times. She made great lefse for Christmas, divinity for various fundraisers, lemon merengue pie using fresh lemons from Arizona for dessert after dinner and supper, and caramel rolls that rarely lasted more than a day despite how many were made. What did she create? Ever heard of Green-Tomato Pie?

Betty enjoyed her family, neighbors, friends, camping, cards (whist and pinochle being a couple favorites), traveling (Alaska and Norway were her and Norris’ big adventures), knitting and hosting Yahtzee games. She enjoyed sharing updates about her nieces and nephews - where they were and what they were doing. Her friends and family knew her as a prankster including a couple instances of julebukking in her younger years. Betty and Norris, with George and Caroline Weiler, co-owned the Tastee Freez for five years. She and Norris attended their children's school events including all home and away games, band and chorus concerts, and summer band trips. Betty enjoyed numerous family camping adventures to the Black Hills of South Dakota. As their grandchildren grew, Betty and Norris sent handmade Christmas Ornaments made of common household materials to each child until they reached 12 years old.

Betty is survived by her children Noreen (Terry) Elichuk of Eden Prairie, MN, Marsha Peterson of Eden Prairie, MN, Allan (Cindy) Peterson of Moses Lake, WA, Rodney (Janet) Peterson of Frederick, MD, eight grandchildren(Brandon Elichuk, Darcie (Kurt) Rooney, Troy Peterson, McKenzie (Jon) Lamb, Kacie Peterson, Tyler Peterson, Brady Peterson, Chad Peterson), one great-grandchild (Theodore Peterson) and numerous nieces and nephews that she cherished deeply. Betty is preceded in death by her husband Norris, her mother Charlotte and father Olaf Abraham, and her brothers, Harold, Kenneth, Gerald and Duane Abraham.
