John Bross Pool

M, b. 1803, d. December 1890
Life EventDateDescription
Birth1803John Bross Pool was born in 1803 at New Jersey.
Marriage6 May 1829He married Elizabeth E. Proctor, daughter of William Proctor and Anna Martin, on 6 May 1829 at Kanawha, Virginia.
DeathDecember 1890John Bross Pool died in December 1890 at Minnesota John B Pool was a wagoner in the Civil War, enlisting in Company B of the 31st Indiana Infantry at the age of 58. His date of muster was 20-Sep-1863. On the 1st of January 1864 he re-enlisted as a veteran volunteer. He eventually made Sergeant before his discharge.

In Marietta, Georgia, on 18-Jun-1864 he was shot in the left hand during the Atlanta campaign. He was sent to Cumberland General Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee on 26-Jun-1864, then to Totten General Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky on June 30, then to General Hospital of Madison, Indiana on August 17. His injury disabled his hand for life. He was furloughed on Oct 1 and deserted on Nov 19, returned from desertion Dec 16, then was discharged with a disability on 10-Jan-1865. There doesn't seem to be any penalty for the desertion in his files, and he was honorably discharged.
