Visitations will be 5 to 9 PM, Wednesday, at the Kostel Funeral Home, Yankton, with a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Monty Munkvold, Marty Munkvold, Matt Munkvold, Eric Lerssen, Cory Bierle and Jacob Bierle. Adolph was born May 2, 1914, at rural Utica to Jacob and Mary (Pike) Bierle. He grew up on the family farm near Utica. He was baptized at Yankton on August 21, 1914. He attended Martinus Lutheran Church and was confirmed on August 14, 1927. He attended grade school at rural Utica. On June 27, 1939, he married Evelyn Vanorny. They farmed in the Utica area until retiring in 1978, when they moved to Lesterville. All of his life he enjoyed baseball, either playing, coaching and later, watching it on TV. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing sports. He was on the baseball board for many years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. In playing pinochle, beating the women was his all-time favorite. He served on various boards including telephone, school and church. Those who will cherish his memory are his wife, Evelyn of Lesterville, SD: two sons: Danny (Janice) Bierle of Lesterville, SD and Daryl (Charlotte) Bierle of Utica, SD; two daughters: Peggy Munkvold of Lesterville, SD and Mary Kay (Ben) Lerssen of Sioux Falls, SD; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law, Albert Munkvold; two sisters; and five brothers.
