Longtime Delta County resident, Enola H. Stockham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at the Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 96 years of age.

Enola Hazel Fedde was born September 6, 1916 in Holly, Colorado to George and Anna Kent Fedde. She attended schools in Towner and Holly.

She married John Kenneth Herrick on March 31, 1933. They lived briefly in eastern Colorado before moving to Del Norte, Colorado. Their first four children were born in the San Luis Valley. They then moved to Paonia, purchasing the Rovart Orchards just above Paonia. Enola worked alongside her husband on the fruit farm. Six more children were born before they divorced in 1961. In 1962 they lost a son and a daughter-in-law in a car accident while on their honeymoon. Enola babysat and had many foster children while in Paonia.

Enola married Noah Herren in 1964. He preceded her in death. She moved to Yuma, Colorado and managed an apartment complex for several years. During this time she lost a foster baby, Matthew that she had cared for since his birth.

In 1988, she moved back to Paonia and met and married John Stockham. They were married for 18 years before he passed away at Colorow Care Center on March 1, 2006.

Enola mothered numerous foster children. She worked hard all her life many times doing a man's job and never complained. She taught her children to work hard, love the Lord and be good citizens.

Enola is survived by her sons and their wives, Earl (Jeannette) Herrick of Yuma, Colo., and John (Linda) Herrick of Ottawa, Kan; daughters and their husbands, Meri (Bobby) Pinner of Council Hill, Okla., Dolores Killen of Olathe, Judy (Bob) Patterson of Gunnison, Patty (Bob) Cooper of Montrose, and Milda Lee "Rusty" (Brian) Johnson of Prescott Valley, Ariz; 23 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Enola was preceded in death by her husband, John Stockham, three children and three grandchildren.

Clara became a resident of Good Samaritan Nursing Home.

Mrs. Herzberg died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 29, at her farm home in Johnson township. She had been a patient at Sacred Heart hospital the past seven weeks after suffering a broken hip, and had returned home a week previous to her death.
Born April 9, 1885 at Minsen, Oldenburg, Germany; she came to this county with her parents when an infant of nine months and had lived in Plymouth county ever since.
Mary Christine Ohlrichs and John Herzberg were married Feb. 9, 1903 in Plymouth county. He died Aug. 22 this year. Her parents and sister also preceded her in death.
Surviving arc a son, Chris Herzberg of route 4, Le Mars: a daughter, Mrs. Rudy (Martha) Eberhard of route 3, Le Mars; four grandchildren; three brothers, John Ohlrichs of Le Mars, Henry and Herman Ohlrichs of Iona, Minn.: and a sister, Mrs. E. W. Klemme of Le Mars.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church Ladies aid society.
