Betty was born on August 5, 1934 in Platteville, the daughter of Virgil and Belle (Thomas) Piddington. She was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Platteville High School. Betty went on to work at the Burgess Battery Factory, Montgomery Wards, J&B Café, and then retired from Consumers Oil after 28 years of service. When Betty retired, she became a volunteer at the Platteville Senior Center. This was her favorite place to be. She played cards and Bingo with the many friends she made there. Betty enjoyed traveling and visited many wonderful places with family and friends; including, Germany, Switzerland, and Hawaii (four times), and went on a Caribbean Cruise. She also took several trips in the US to vacation attractions, and her favorite destination which she visited numerous times, Branson, MO. If there was a vehicle going somewhere, mom was good to go! In 2013 she decided to reside at Epione Pavillion in Cuba City. She brought her sizzling personality to share with all the residents there. She made many new friends and caught up with some old friends. She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, putting puzzles together, and her favorite, Wii bowling. The staff at Epione took excellent care of her. Betty was a devoted daughter and sister, an excellent friend, and most of all, a loving and dedicated mother. She is survived by two daughters, Pam Stark of Platteville; Terry Benn of Hazel Green; son, Dennis (Jayne) Stark of Platteville; five grandchildren, Travis Benn, Christine Benn, Korrin Stark, Amie Stark, and Michael Stark; three great-grandchildren, Zoey Benn, Adelyn Meyers and Evelyn Meyers; two sisters-in-law, Donna Brooks and Helen Piddington; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mina McGuire; brothers, Percy, Dean, Leon, Dale, and Maynard; brother-in-law, Chas McGuire; sisters-in-law, Vera Piddington, Ruth Piddington, and Kathy Piddington. The family would like to extend a heartfelt Thank you to the nurses, who took care of Betty, and made her final journey comfortable. Also, a genuine Thank you to Dr. Carr for his excellent care given to Betty. With her many trips to the SWHC she received the best care possible. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Hazel Green, where she was active in the women's groups and also taught Sunday School. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Hazel Green. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Dean, of Platteville; five children, Patricia (Hank Sedbrook) Piddington-Vogt, of Bloomington, John (Judy) Piddington, of Hazel Green, Karen (Dick) Sauer, of Verona, Jane Piddington, of Oshkosh, and Brenda (Jim) Eckel, of McFarland; 13 grandchildren, Peggy Mulcahy, Chris (Amy St. John) Mulcahy, Greg and Jeff Mulcahy, Steve (Brenda) Vogt, Tina (Fred West) Vogt, Brian and Jason Piddington, Nicole, Ben, and Adam Sauer, Janelle Piddington and Emma Eckel; and six great-grandchildren. She was born on Sept. 14, 1947 in Platteville, the daughter of Dean and Ruth (Bartels) Piddington. Patricia grew up in Southwest Wisconsin and on July 24, 1965 she was united in marriage to Gary E. Vogt in Hazel Green. Patricia was a hard worker and jack of all trades. She farmed with her husband, tended bar, worked as a meat packer, and later retired from MPI in Prairie du Chien. She loved to cook and bake and was also known for canning the fruits and vegetables raised in her gardens. Pat’s heart was as big as her laugh. No one was ever sent home hungry or empty handed. She wanted to feed you and make you laugh. People were drawn to her because no one was a stranger; she would talk to anyone and made instant friends. Our family has lost our center, our heart, our core. The party will never be the same.

Patricia is survived by her son, Steven T. (Brenda) Vogt and daughter, Tina M. (Fred West) Vogt; their father; and grandchildren, Chantelle, Courtney, Brandon, Skylar, and Quincy. She is further survived by her siblings, John (Judy) Piddington, Karen (Dick) Sauer, Jane Piddington, Brenda (Jim) Eckel, numerous nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Barry, and sister and brother-in-law Sue and Bob Mulcahy.

A gathering of relatives and friends will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the ZENTNER-BEAL FUNERAL HOME, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, Wis., a Time of Remembrance will conclude the gathering at 6:30 p.m.

Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville, immediately followed by a luncheon at First English Lutheran Church in Platteville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mervyn "Jim" Stark Memorial Fund.
Jim was born on August 25, 1930, in Platteville, the son of Fred and Lena (Hons) Stark. He graduated from Platteville High School. Jim went on to work at Burgess Battery Factory, dorm construction work at UW-Platteville, nine years as a Grant County Deputy, a truck driver with Lonsberg's and then Carry Transport until his retirement.
He married his love, Ardith (Fivecoat) Hirsch, on June 21, 1986. Their love blended two families to become one. Jim and Ardith enjoyed traveling and visiting wonderful places in their RV. They especially loved choosing Yuma, Arizona, as their winter home. They made lifelong friendships with fellow transplants from different locations in the U.S. and Canada, who had also discovered the charms of Yuma. Jim enjoyed creating things from wood and anything else he could find in his abundant stash of goodies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed taking anyone along with him and Ardith. A few years after they sold their house in Platteville, they purchased their home in Bagley, Wisconsin. They lived there and made many wonderful friends. In the summer of 2015, they moved to Platteville to be closer to family.
Jim was a devoted son and brother, a loving and kind husband, a loyal friend and a proud teaching father and grandfather.
Jim is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ardith; three daughters, Pam Stark, of Platteville, Terry Benn, of Hazel Green, WI, Sarah (Jay) Brant, of Platteville; five sons, Dennis (Jayne) Stark, of Platteville, Mark Hirsch, of Platteville, Jon (Margaret Ruf) Hirsch, of Hartford, WI, David (Kay) Hirsch, of Waukesha, WI, Andrew (Theresa) Hirsch, of Platteville; 17 grandchildren, Travis Benn, Christine Feehan, Korrin, Amie, and Mike Stark, Cassandra, Tristan, Anna, Emily, Christina, Steven, Brittany, and Alexandra Hirsch, Jaxin Mackinruf and Sydney Ruf-Wong, Brandon and Cameron Brant; three great-grandchildren, Zoey Benn, and Adalyn and Evelyn Meyers; his adopted "Bros" Willie Allen and Curt Myrick; plus many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Anna Armstrong, Kathryn Savoldelli, and Helen Ingram; brothers, William, Charles, and Orville Stark; and his first wife, Betty (Piddington) Stark.

Kathryn married Leonard George Hoadley in 1932 and they had two children. In 1950 she married Michael Rawlin Riley. Both her husbands and her son Elton preceded her in death. She lived most of her life in Cuba City, WI but in her last years she was a resident of an assisted living facility in Galena, IL. She died at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, IA.
