On September 18, 1931, she was married to Dwight Cottington. He preceded her in death in August 1934. She later married Frank G. Cowan on October 31, 1937. He died on August 18, 1984. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters and the Council of Catholic Women. Ruth enjoyed sewing and was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include two children: Gerald (Shirley) Cowan, of Spring Park, MN and Richard (Shannon) Cowan, of Baraboo; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her daughter: Nina Muchow; her son: Dwight Cottington; two grandchildren: Scott Muchow and Becky O'Rourke; her sister: Helen Ziech and her brother: Albert Ziech. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Reedsburg with Deacon Tom Hale officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Monday at the church. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.

He is survived by his mother, Nina Muchow, Reedsburg; brothers and sisters, Steve (Debbie) Muchow, Reedsburg, Stan (Kay) Muchow, Madison, Sue (Paul) Zingsheim, Reedsburg, and Sandy (Steve) Peterson, Reedsburg; nieces and nephews, Michelle, Stephen, Chad, Kelly, Kurt, Derek, Dustin and Dylan; great-nephew, Brayden; maternal grandmother, Ruth Cowan, Reedsburg; great aunts, Helen Ziech and Pearl Neibuhr; many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. A memorial mass for Scott M. Muchow will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, April 19, at Basillica of St. Mary's in Minneapolis, Minn. with Father Michael O'Connell officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. A memorial service will also be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with Dr. James Steinbrecher officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials of remembrance may be made to Basillica of St. Mary's, Minneapolis, Minn. The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Funeral services were held Dec. 2nd at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Loganville with Rev. George Gutzmann officiating. Interment in St. Peter's Cemetery, Loganville.
