Death25 January 2013Patrick Humphrey Mahan died on 25 January 2013 at age 90 Pat Mahan, 90, of Kingsland passed away on Jan. 25. He was born on May 21, 1922 to Laban and Hallie Clay (Humphrey) Mahan in San Antonio. He married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Kathleen Glass, and they eloped in 1941. The couple later became founding/charter members of Castle Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio. He was a pilot in WWII where he survived a plane crash.
After the war he took college courses through the GI bill. Mahans passion for flight led him to join the FAA as an air traffic controller. In 1959, he was promoted to FAA Headquarters and worked in Washington, D.C. until his retirement in 1972. He moved back to Texas and remodeled his lake house on the shores of Lake LBJ in Kingsland that had been in the family since 1963. All his life Mahan was an avid gardener, fisherman and golfer. After Mary Kathleens death in 1996, Pat married Wanda Parker, who also preceded him in death in 2009. Mahan is survived by Brother Laban "Bubs" Mahan of Blanco; daughters Kathy Mahan Lewis and husband Fred of Kingsland, Elizabeth Mahan Garrison and husband Tucker of Brevard, N.C., Patti Mahan Carico and husband Bill of Kingsland, and Brandy Parker of Austin; sons Roger Parker of Lago Vista, Robert Parker and wife Christina of Granite Shoals, and Alex Parker and wife Lyn of Granite Shoals; grandchildren Christine Garrison of Austin, Dede Garrison Kiener of Westerville, Ohio, Katie Carico Hyatt of Concord, Va., Jeffrey Clay Carico of Lynchburg, Va., and Allie Carico of Lynchurg; Parker grandchildren Austin, Alexzandra, Dawson, Seiara, Hayley, Annika, and Amelia; great-grandchildren Chase Lewis, Chelsea Lewis, Reis Lewis, Ryan Lewis, Jack Simmons, Sophie Simmons, David Kiener, Jonathan Kiener, and Anna Kiener, Emily Carico, Clay Carico, Cayla Carico, Tyler Hyatt, Lexi Spohn, Jasey Hyatt, and Ashleigh Hyatt; and his beloved pets Maggie and Foxy. Mahan was preceded in death by mother Hallie Clay Mercer, stepfather Ira Mercer, uncle Joe Mahan, brothers George and Jimmy Mercer, and his first grandchild William Clark Lewis.
A graveside service was held at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park Cemetery off Park Rd 4 on Monday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. Dwayne Edwards officiated, and Bill Carico gave the eulogy. Elizabeth Garrison played her ukulele. and soloist Shelly Lewis lead singing. A reception lunch followed.

She joined the band at age 88, dying peacefully on July 9, 2014, at Shell Point Hospice. Lucille was born on Nov. 19, 1925, in Bloomfield, Ill., to Milton and Minnie Kasparie. She married Ken Sidwell in June of 1946. They raised their children in Madison, and retired in Florida. In July of 1999, Ken died. She remarried in December of 2000 to Louis Meyer. They resided in Florida also. She is survived by her children, Eugene (Carolyn) Bruemmer, Marie Worley (Bill), Tom (Pam) Sidwell, Doug (Barb) Sidwell and daughter-in-law, Carol Sidwell; a brother, Richard (Bud) Kasparie; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Sidwell; son, Kenneth D. Sidwell; sister, Lila Daughtery; and husband, Louis Meyer. A private family funeral will be held. Memorials can be made to your charity of choice. She had a love of music, and playing for family and friends was most gratifying for her, but her humor and wit was her gift she shared with all that knew her. Her children all inherited that humor, and through them she will live on.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford of Madison, daughter, Sharon (Douglas) Bowen of Madi son; son, Stephen (Vicki O'Kane of Cambridge, son, Russell O'Kane of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and a daughter Sara (Curtiss) Gartmann of Madison. She is further survived by seven grand children, seven great-grandchildren; a brother Elden (Adell) Meade of Chandler, Arizona; dearest friends, Robert and Marge O'Kane of Madison and Charlene Thompson of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and four brothers. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 12, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 North Sherman Avenue, Madison with the Reverend Roger Becker officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Madison. Friends may call on Sunday, July 11, 1999 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 10:00
