Mrs. Marienau received in a dress of navy blue and Mrs. Klemme appeared in a tan suit. Both mothers wore corsages of red roses.

The bride attended Ireton high school and Mr. Klemme has been farming with his brother.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawarden, with the Rev. Todd Bunge officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in rural Akron. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Evelyn Marienau was born Nov. 20, 1931, at Brunsville, Iowa, the daughter of Ben and Ida (Berg) Marienau.

She married Norman Klemme on Feb. 10, 1950. They lived in Le Mars, Iowa, prior to moving to the Klemme home farm.

Evelyn was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery and doing craft projects. Evelyn played guitar in a band for many years that performed at different care centers in the area. She was a member of the Siouxland Music Association and was in a bowling league with her husband.

After Norman's death, Evelyn moved to Le Mars. She married Glenn Gronemeyer and they lived in Hawarden. After his death, Evelyn loved to spend time with her sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and Hank in Hawarden.

Evelyn is survived by three daughters, Gloria Kowalke of Sioux City, Gail Walrod and her husband, Robert of Akron, and Ellen Renken and her special friend, Dale Manley of Struble, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Norm Marienau and his wife, Neva of Hawarden, Leonard Marienau and his wife, Elenor of Ireton, Iowa, and Bob Marienau of Anaheim, Calif; two sisters, Eileen Vander Helm of Hawarden, and Lorraine Luksan and her husband, Don of Le Mars.

Death17 December 1981Charles Martin Jurgensen died on 17 December 1981 at age 95 Charles M. Jurgensen, 95, lifelong Akron area resident died Thursday (Dec. 17, 1981) in the Akron Hospital of a brief illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron. The Rev. Marvin Mueller officiated. Organist was Pam Richards, with congregational singing, “Children f the Heavenly Father” and “I Know My Redeemer Lives”.

Pallbearers were Darwyn Klemme, Arnold Clark, Arvel Jurgensen, Carroll Frederickson, Robert Jurgensen, and Alvin Klemme.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery under direction of the Schroeder Funeral Home of Akron. A prayer service was held at 8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Mr. Jurgensen was born Oct. 19, 1886 in Union County, South Dakota, near Akron. He married Emma Klemme Sept. 22, 1910, in Preston Township, rural Akron. He farmed in the Akron area until 1919 whe he and his wife, Emma, retired and moved to Akron. The celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in their home in September.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Ella Nannen and Arlene Friechs, both of Akron: two sons Elmer and Vernon, both of Akron; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.

William Jurgensen was born in Union County, S. D., February 17, 1888. On January 12,1915 he married Laura Klemme. He farmed in the Akron area all of his life until retiring to Akron in 1956.

Survivors are his widow; daughters, Mrs. Fred Grosenheider of Ireton, Mrs. William Hartman of Richmond, Calif., Mrs. Donald Baack of Le Mars, Mrs. Lloyd Elchacker of Wheatridge, Colo., Mrs. William Johnson of Boulder, Colo; a son Robert of Sioux City; a brother, Charles of Akron; a sister Mrs. Russell Clark Akron; 24 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Klemme was born Sept. 23, 1918, in Hawarden, Iowa, to Charles and Anna (Moehlmann) Busch. She married Leslie Klemme of Akron on June 28, 1938, in Hawarden. She was a teacher in a rural school and actively worked with her husband as they farmed in Preston Township, all their married life. They retired in 1980.

She was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Akron.

Survivors include her children, Stan Klemme and his wife, Anita of Santa Ana, Calif., Glenda and her husband, John Jurgens of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Keith Klemme, DR DC, of Milford, Iowa; her grandchildren, Kirk Jurgens and his wife, Stephanie and Wendi Kotlinsky and her husband, Max, all of Sioux Falls; her great-grandchildren, Andrew and Jarron Jurgens and Alex Kotlinsky; a brother and his wife, Harold and Brownie Bush of Hawarden, Iowa; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Darlene and Richard Youngstrom of Kansas City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Anna Busch; her brothers, Carl, George, Walter, Arthur and John; and a sister, Carla Heuer.

Dr. Keith Lynn Klemme, DC of Milford Iowa passed away peacefully on September 28, 2020. Keith was born May 31, 1951 in Akron, Iowa to Leslie and Florence (Busch) Klemme. Keith attended school in Akron and graduated in 1969. After high school, Keith attended Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, graduating with honors. He then attended Palmer Chiropractic School in Davenport Iowa, again graduating with honors.

Keith had his practice in the Okoboji area for over 35 years and also held the office of President of the Iowa Chiropractic Association in 2001 and 2002. He had a smile that would light up a room and was always so much fun to be around. Keith had a love of animals and a special place in his heart for his horses.

Keith is survived by a sister, Glenda Klemme Jurgens of Sioux Falls, SD; nephew, Kirk Jurgens and family of Brandon, SD; niece, Wendi Jurgens Kotlinsky and family of White Bear Lake, MN; as well as numerous friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Florence Klemme and his brother, Stan Klemme.

Mildred lived in Akron since 1918, with the exception of one year when they lived in Worthington, Minn. Mildred worked for Dr. Brunner for five years and was an Avon representative for many years.

On Aug. 27, 1938, she married Marvin E. Klemme in Fairfield, Iowa. They were blessed with four children. Marvin preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1972.

Mrs. Klemme was a member of First Church of Christ, where she was a Bible school director, Sunday school teacher, a member of Ladies Aid, a Bible study leader and organist for many years. She also was a member of Book and Thimble, Eastern Star, Rural Home Culture Club, Peer Group, County Chairman of Federated Clubs and many others.

Survivors include a son, Merlyn Klemme and his wife, Donna of Lawrence, Kan; two daughters, Jo Anna Loll and her husband, Robert of Acworth, Ga., and Merrie Prunty and her husband, Ron of Papillion, Neb; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene, and a brother, Albert B. Lemen.

Merlyn Lee Klemme was born on September 26, 1943 in Akron, Iowa to Marvin and Mildred (Lemen) Klemme. He graduated from high school in 1962 and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1963. Merlyn spent 20 years in the Air Force; he stationed in many different places including: Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, Nebraska, Belgium and Kansas. He was honorably discharged in 1983. He then began working for the City of Lawrence, Kansas - Water Department from September 19, 1983 to September 11, 2009.

Merlyn enjoyed collecting guns, antique cast iron metal and antique farm equipment. He always took a lot of pride in his yard and took great care of it. Merlyn and Donna spent their winters in Texas at a lake home. He liked to spend time outdoors, go for walks and visit with his church family. His favorite time was spent with his family, especially during the holidays. His grandchildren and great grandchildren meant the world to him.

Merlyn is survived by his wife, Donna Klemme; children: William (Judy) Klemme of Lecompton, Kansas, Cassie Klemme and Teresa Klemme of Lawrence, Kansas, and Virginia Treadwell of San Angelo, Texas; sisters: Myrna Jo Loll of Acworth, Georgia and Merrie (Rich) Rutherford of Papillion, Nebraska; 10 siblings in law; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Merlyn is preceded in death by his parents: Marvin and Mildred Klemme; parents in law; Melvin and June Dawdy; sister, Marlene Klemme; brothers in law: Ron Prunty, Bob Loll, Dean Dawdy and Dan Dawdy; and grandson, Dustin Kasson.

JoAnna was very talented and enjoyed many crafts including macrame’ and sewing. She loved to cook and bake, making meals and goodies for her church’s Men’s and Women’s Bible Study groups as well as many church activities. She especially enjoyed spending time with her church family, her children and grandchildren.

JoAnna is survived by her children, Kristy (Larry) Bowman and Scott (Misty) Moffatt of Sioux City, Iowa, Brett (Rebeka) Moffatt of Ireton, Iowa, her step children, Michael (Karen) Loll of Lincoln, Neb., Matt (Starr) Loll of Ozark, Mo., and Mindy Loll of Dallas, Texas. JoAnna had numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Merrie (Rich) Rutherford of Papillion, Neb., sister-in-law Donna Klemme of Akron, Iowa, brother-in-law Ed Loll of Pipestone, Minn., and many nieces, nephews, and others who loved her including her church family at Branches of Christ Church in Acworth, Ga.

JoAnna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Loll, her parents, Marvin and Mildred Klemme, sister, Marlene Klemme, and brother, Merlin “Butch” Klemme.
