Gilbert was born January 7, 1927, in Kieler, Wisconsin, the son of Charles and Gezena (Dalsing) Kunkel. He married Colleen Hesseling at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville on June 1, 1968.

He farmed in the Kieler area for many years, and later owned with his brother, Irenus, and sister-in-law, Rosemary Kunkel, Kunkel Hardware, Plumbing and Heating. He also sold Delaval Milking Equipment. Gilbert loved his fall trips up north for grouse hunting. He also loved to fish and garden.

Suvivors besides his wife Colleen, include two sons, Kevin (Michelle) Kunkel, of Pecatonica, Illinois, and Joe Hesseling, Capitan, New Mexico; a daughter-in-law, Rita Hesseling, of Kieler; two brothers, Irenus (Rosemary) Kunkel, of Dickeyville, and Norman (Eunice) Kunkel, of Kieler; four grandchildren, Cory and Tyler Hesseling, and Makenzie and Maddy Kunkel; and six great-grandchildren, Hailey, Madison, Kylie, Taylor, Elizabeth, and Josie.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Hesseling; a sister, Alverna (Orville) Schaefer; and a granddaughter, Kailee Kunkel.

Family services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Furlong Funeral Chapel, Galena. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Galena.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1930, in Kieler, Wis., daughter of Lawrence G. and Amelia D. (Weber) Kieler. She was united in marriage to Milton Redfearn, her husband of 60 years, on Nov. 16, 1951, at St. Mary's Rectory, Galena.

Agnes lost her mother at the age of 20 and was forever grateful to her now-deceased sister, Gerty, for helping to raise her, something she had never forgotten.

Agnes was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

She was a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother. She loved to help care for her four grandchildren and more recently her two great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a great cook and a lady of strong religious faith as she attended church six days a week. She loved her family and will be sadly missed.

Surviving are her husband, Milton; three sons, Michael, Patrick (Paula) and Thomas, all of Galena; a daughter, Kathy, of Dubuque; four grandchildren, Chrissy (fiance, Justin Boxleiter) Redfearn, of East Dubuque, Jen (Andy) Ehrler, Tilli (Nick) Wienen and P.C. Redfearn, all of Galena; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Drew Ehrler; a sister, Ethel Jenson, of Bakersfield, Calif; and a sister-in-law, Charlene Scott, of Shullsburg, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gerty Dower and Rosie Greve; and two brothers, Willy and Leonard Kieler.
