He was born on March 12, 1908, in Reedsburg, the son of Frank and Lenora (Johnson) Brimmer. Lester worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for 30 years. On Feb. 2, 1937, he was united in marriage to Loretta Fitzgerald. She preceded him in death in March 7, 2003. He is survived by five children, James (MaryLee) of Madison, Veronica Iverson of Livingston, William (Linda) of Lodi, Michael (Karen) of Sun Prairie, and Theresa (Lee) Sutherland of Lodi; a son-in-law, Dean Millard of Janesville; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucy Spencer and Hildred (Norman) Neumaier; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; a daughter, JoAnn Millard; and a great-grandson, Skylar Grothe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2004, at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, Lodi, with the Rev. Nicholas S. Okere officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at the HAMRE FUNERAL HOME, Lodi, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. until the Mass at the church on Thursday.

Arline was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Reedsburg Area Medical Center Auxiliary where she had knit over 1,500 baby caps for the newborn babies. Survivors include her sister-in-law: Alice Brimmer, of Reedsburg; many nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard, on December 21, 1995; four brothers: Walter, Richard, Cedric and James Brimmer and one sister: Eva Cooper. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Reedsburg with Pastor David Farina officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. The Hoof Funeral Home is serving the family.

He was married to Virginia Hein on May 8, 1976 at the Presbyterian Church in Baraboo. He was employed by Country Market and Meat Market as a meat cutter for many years up until his retirement. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army. Survivors include his wife Virginia of Baraboo, eight step children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister Arlene (Willard) Hahn of Reedsburg, one sister-in-law Alice Brimmer of Reedsburg, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife Louise Tessmer his parents, three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday May 21, 1992 at the Redlin Funeral Home with Pastor Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in St Lutheran Cemetery in Reedsburg. Friends may call from noon until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. There will be military rites conducted at the grave.

Ella Spencer, age 91, of Lone Rock, died on Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Pine Valley Healthcare. She was born in Sauk County on March 4, 1914, daughter of Frank and Leonora (Johnson) Brimmer. Lucy married Albert J. Spencer on Aug. 15, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1990. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed quilting and tending her flower gardens, but most of all loved her family. Survivors include her children, Donald Spencer of Beloit, Gertrude Edwards of Reedsburg, Elden Spencer of Kenosha, Edward (Sharon) Spencer of Reedsburg, Mary (Frank) Novy of Lone Rock, Raymond (Mary) Spencer of Houston, Texas, Roland (Sheryl) Spencer of Lone Rock, and Georgia (Ronnie) Moore Wind Lake; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hlydred (Norman) Neumaier of Lodi. She was further preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon; daughter-in-law, Isolene Spencer; son-in-law, Bill Edwards; two grandchildren; and her siblings, Percy, Lester, Spencer, Royce and Wesley Brimmer, and Lois Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL, Richland Center. Pastor Craig Peach will officiate, and burial will be in the Loyd Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Loyd Community Center following the burial.
