Harriet St., Darlington, where the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and parish rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. She was born on Feb. 6, 1917, in Paris Township, Grant County, Wis., daughter of Bernard J. and Margaret (Hinderman) Busch. She married John A. Wiegel on July 22, 1936, at Holy Ghost, Dickeyville; he preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1987. Together they raised their 16 children. They farmed in the Seymour Township area and moved to Darlington in 1976. She later married Leonard J. Martin on Feb. 6, 1993; he preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 2000. Rose was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, its Council of Catholic Women and of Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She volunteered in her church as a catechism teacher and teachers' aide. She volunteered for Meals-on-Wheels, worked with the Bloodmobile and helped with funeral dinners at the church. Her hobbies included fishing, rug making, crosswords and card playing. She liked watching baseball games, especially the Cubs, and her children's and grandchildren's plays and games. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her for her open heart and welcoming ways. Rose became a Gold Star mother when her son, Lloyd, died in the Vietnam War. Surviving are nine sons and five daughters, Bernard (Mary) Wiegel, of Shullsburg, Lillian (Barbara Schacht) Wiegel, of Greenfield, Carol (Ron) Pankow, of Jefferson, Marian "Maym" (Richard) Kelly, of Darlington, Rosie Fransen, of Dubuque, Robert "Pete" (Sue) Wiegel and Ted (Elaine) Wiegel, both of Shullsburg, Dale Wiegel and Nancy (Dean) Winslow, both of Darlington, Larry (Kay) Wiegel, of Woodford/South Wayne, Michael "Mick" (Julianne) Wiegel, of Poplar Grove, Ill., Chuck (Sue) Wiegel, of Argyle, Jack (Rita) Wiegel of Woodford/South Wayne, and Tony (Donna) Wiegel, of Darlington; 62 grandchildren; 113 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; her stepchildren, Mary Leigh, of Fargo, S.D., Margaret (Ed) Schechel, of Arizona, Jim (Betty) Martin, of Evanston, Ill., John (Rita) Martin, of Darlington, and Ann (Larry) Schechel, of Tomah; 25 stepgrandchildren; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Lu Busch, Bud and Irma Loeffler, Mary Wiegel and Jean and Jerome Jackson; numerous nieces and nephews; many other relatives; and friends. She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Lloyd, in the Vietnam War, and Alan on April 9, 1991; a grandson, David Pankow; two brothers, George and Francis Busch; three sisters, Mary Vaassen, Luetta and Oteal Wiegel; and a son-in-law, Tom Fransen. She was born on Jan. 11, 1915, in Jamestown Township, daughter of Valentine and Anna (Thor) Droessler. She married Oliver Kieler on Jan. 27, 1932, in Kieler ; he preceded her in death on March 1, 1994.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and its Ladies Sodality.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting. She loved to play euchre and solo.

She was a great mother and grandmother.

Surviving are a daughter, Nila Ann (Frank) Furlong, of Galena, Ill; three sons, Allen (Jane) Kieler and Oliver "Babe" Jr. (MaDonna) Kieler , both of Hazel Green, and Dale Kieler , of Kieler ; a daughter-in-law, Pauline Kieler , of Dickeyville; a sister-in-law, Kay Droessler, of Bellevue, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Harold "Hank" Kieler , in 2003; two grandchildren, Angela and Keith Kieler ; two brothers, George and Howard; and two sisters, Loretta Donahue and Marcella Kahle.

Greiveldinger celebrated the ceremony. Miss Elizabeth Kieler, sister of the bride, and Rudolph Loeffelholz, brother of the groom, were the attendants. The bride's gown was of white satin and lace and her floor-length tulle veil was fashioned into an embroidered and pleated cap, fastened with orange blossoms. She carried pink roses and baby breath. The bridesmaid wore rose colored satin trimmed with fur. After the wedding a reception was held at the home of the bride's parents and more than 100 friends and relatives were guests at dinner and supper. Rose and white decorated the dining room. A dance was held at Kieler in the evening, at which the bride wore a blue satin dress trimmed with fur dyed a corresponding blue.

Loeffelholz, 72, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, died at 6:55 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 1986, at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa. Family and friends called until 9 p.m., Friday, January 22, at the Gene Siegert & Son Funeral Home in Cuba City, Wisconsin, where the Rosary was said at 8 p.m. Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 25, at Holy Ghost Church in Dickeyville, and burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Loeffelholz was survived by nine daughters, Mrs. Leo (Bernadette) Abing, of Lancaster, Wis., Mrs. James (Cecilia) Collins, of Dubuque, Ia., Mrs. Anton (Felicia "Bitsy") Schmitt and Mrs. LaVern (Ruth) Wiederholt, both of Cuba City, Wis., Mrs. Norbert (Agnes) Fritz, Mrs. Michael (Madonna) Whitaker, and Mrs. Harvey (Mary Lou) Kruser, all of Potosi, Wis., Mrs. Robert (Imelda) Hying, of Dickeyville, Wis., and Mrs. Donald (Jane) Novotney, of Fargo, N. Dak; three sons, Fidelis G. "Bud" Loeffelholz, of Platteville, Wis., Vincent J. Loeffelholz, of Cuba City, Wis., and Thomas Loeffelholz, of Dickeyville, Wis; 43 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Theresa M. Loeffelholz, of Dickeyville, Wis; and four brothers, Cyrillus Loeffelholz, of Dubuque, Ia., and Raymond Loeffelholz, Peter Loeffelholz, and Rudolph Loeffelholz, all of Cuba City, Wis.

Death7 April 2010Nellie Mary Loeffelholz died on 7 April 2010 at age 90 Nellie Mary Dalsing, 90, of Kieler, died at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 12, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Kieler, with the Rev. Bernard Rott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, Ill., where there will be a parish rosary recited at 2 p.m. Friends also may call from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center, Kieler. She was born on Sept. 22, 1919, in Jamestown Township of Grant County, daughter of George and Matilda (Kirchberg) Loeffelholz. She married Vincent J. Dalsing on Nov. 18, 1941, at Immaculate Conception Church; he preceded her in death on May 19, 1999. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and its Council of Catholic Women. Nellie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a friend to everyone. She loved gardening and enjoyed reading, crocheting, baking and cooking. She played in "The Hawaiian Ensemble" with her brother, Oscar, and gave music lessons in the Kieler area. She played the Hawaiian guitar and ukulele. Surviving are two sons, Dr. Michael C. (Rosa) Dalsing, of Indianapolis, and Dr. Joseph G. (Lois Gies) Dalsing, of Luxemburg; four daughters, Patricia L. (Bobby) Franklin and Darlene M. (Gerald) Koppes, both of Dubuque, Marilyn A. (Michael) Herrera, of Temecula, Calif., and Theresa R. Dalsing, of Hazel Green; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Sara Dalsing, of Dubuque; and two sisters-in-law, Emerita Eggers, of Hazel Green, and Helene Dalsing, of Dubuque. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Edward J. Dalsing, on Oct. 18, 1999; nine brothers, Oscar, Wendell, Ulric, David, George, Victor, Vincent, Harold and Daniel Loeffelholz; and five sisters, Elizabeth (Kieler) Ginter, Helen Koch, Pearl Kruser, Freda Kruser and Beatrice (Duve) Studier.
