Mike farmed his entire life and also worked for Elk Grove Township. He served on the Wisconsin Corn Growers Board, and he also sold Pioneer Seed Corn. In his free time he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. He is survived by his sons, Reed (Kari) Engelke, Middleton; Jacob (Katie Reichling) Engelke, Platteville; their mother, Sheri Engelke; granddaughter, Zoe Engelke; parents, James and Ann Engelke, Platteville; two sisters, Susi Engelke, St. Charles, Mo; Karen (Wayne) Casper, Cambridge; special friend, Laurie Fink, Darlington. Private family services were held Aug. 17 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Yellowstone. Father David Wanish officiated. Private burial was at the Belmont Cemetery. N. Jole, officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Mr. McClain died unexpectedly at 10 pm, on Friday evening in his home. He suffered a heart attack several months ago and was confined in the Cuba City Medical Center for several weeks at that time. He was born Nov. 17, 1891 in Paris township, Grant county. He resided on a farm in thls vicinity all his life. He was a member of Faith Lutheran church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Anna McClain, one son Gerald, Cuba City, Rt. 2, and one brother, Arthur McClain, of Platteville. He was preceded by his parents, and a brother, Charles. | Death | 1 March 1963 | Anna McClain died on 1 March 1963 at Mt. Vernon, Illinois, at age 87 Mrs. Anne Woodrome, 87, of 101 south 26th street died at noon friday at Good Samaritan Hospital. Funeral services will be held at ?:00 p.m. Sunday at the Fry Funeral Home in Waltonville with Herbert Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Bald Hill Cemetery, west of Waltonville. The body will lie in state at the Fry Funeral Home where friends may call after 4:00 p.m. today. Mrs. Woodrome was born July ?0, 1875, in Potosi, Wis., the daughter of John and Anna (Rupp) McClain. On June 21, 1898 at Potosi she was married to George W. Woodrome, who preceded her in death in 1955. She was also preceded in death by a daughter and 11 brothers and sisters. Survivors include one son, Archie Woodrome of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Mrs. Lee R. Lyons of this city and Mrs. Henry Schroeder of Carbondale; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grand child. She is listed in the 1880 U.S. Census for the Town of Jamestown, Grant County, Wisconsin (SD 2, ED 110, Page 3), enumerated June 2, 1880, as Grace Thurtle, age 21, single, born in Wisconsin, living with her widowed mother, Anna Thurtle, and her siblings Frederick, age 25, a miner, Harriet, age 23, and Belle, age 19, whose occupation is teaching school.
