A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Loreto. Fr. Larry Bowens will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Donald James Weitzel died on 23 September 2012 at age 72 ELMWOOD, IL - Donald J. "Jim" Weitzel, 72, of Elmwood passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, with family by his side.

He was born on Aug. 30, 1940, in Franklin Township, Wis., to Harold and Teresa Volk Weitzel.

He is survived by Sharon, his loving wife of over 50 years. Also surviving are his mother, Teresa of Plain, Wis; three children, Terry (Daphne) Weitzel of Sheridan, Wyo., Rhonda (Will) Tesch of Grafton, Wis., and Shelly (Jay) Parsons of Cheyenne, Wyo; and two sisters, Marge Powell of Cottage Grove, Wis., and Rita Kline of Spring Green, Wis.

He was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren, Courtney (Dan) McFalls, Allison Parsons, Brittney Tesch, Frannie Weitzel and Olivia Parsons; and two great-grandchildren, Gracie McFalls and Sophie McFalls. One brother-in-law, Ron (Fern) Christianson, and one sister-in-law, Marsha (Chuck) Grant, also survive, along with many aunts, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Richard and Tom.

Jim retired from Caterpillar in 2002 and also worked for Shissler Seed Company for 28 years.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Elmwood.
Jim was a classic car enthusiast and was well known nationally for his classic car restoration expertise. Most of all, Jim was a loving and caring family man and true friend.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Marie was a phone operator, then a bookkeeper for Woodruff Lumber in Vesper, WI and later was treasurer for both the Village of Vesper and the Vesper Water & Sewer Utility. For many years Marie also served as a news correspondent for the Pittsville Record.

Marie was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, the Vesper Lions Club and was a lifetime member of St. James Catholic Church in Vesper, WI. Marie enjoyed playing the piano and was a gifted piano player.

Marie is survived by two sons- Patrick Dederich of Vesper, WI and Dennis (Robin) Dederich of Vesper, WI; and two grandchildren, Paul (Chelsea) Dederich of Vesper, WI and Jennifer Dederich of Woburn, MA.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; and brother, David D. Woodruff.
