He was born September 25, 1924 in Hooker, SD to Ben and Emma (Andal) Osthus. At the age of 6, he moved with his family to a farm south of Sioux Falls. He graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1943.

On September 11, 1949, he was united in marriage to Jean Kaney in Sioux Falls, SD. They began farming near Shindler before establishing their Dairy Farm southwest of Harrisburg. He raised cattle, hogs, and enjoyed farming until his health forced him to retire in 2006. Farming was never considered a job to him, it was his passion, which he passed along to his grandson, Jeffrey, who farmed with him for over 15 years.

Lloyd was a member of the First Lutheran Church, and was a school board member of the Harrisburg School District for 12 years. He served as a board member of the Harrisburg Farmers Co-operative Elevator, and was a member of the Sioux Valley Milk Producers Association.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Jean of Harrisburg; and 3 daughters, Cheryl Shumaker of Sioux Falls, Charlene Osthus of Bloomington, MN, and Charlotte (Skye) Haron of Sioux Falls; 5 grandchildren, Dr. Tamera Shumaker, Eric and Jeffrey Shumaker, and Matthew and Mikaela Haron; 2 sisters, Eleanor Slack and Shirley Joffer, and 1 brother, Arlen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, Orville, Clifford, Milton, and Donald.
Blessed be his memory.

Survivors include three children, Mrs. Bud (Catherine) Smith, Mitchell; Jack, Mitchell; and William Verlin, Parkston; a sister Mrs. Edna Bujer, Anaheim, Calif; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, two daughters, and a son.

He died Monday, December 18, 2000 at the Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston. Ken had attained the age of 88 years, seven months and five days.

Ken graduated from Wagner High School in 1931 and from Kansas State University Veterinary College in 1935. After graduation he worked for the Bureau of Animal Industry for six years. He worked for one year in Texas TB testing cattle. From there he spent three years Bangs testing in South Dakota and helping with anthrax eradication, follwed by two years working in Fargo, North Dakota. In Fargo, he was in charge of the brucellosis lab at North Dakota State University.

Ken married Rosemary Chamberlin in Faulkton, SD in May of 1938. Four children were born to their union: Karen, Richard, Jay and Joe. Rosemary died March 26, 1963.

Dr. Sadler entered the US Army as a veterinarian in May of 1941. He served at Ft. Robinson, NB, for several years and ended his army career in the remount service in Lexington, KY. Dr. Sadler inspected and bought thousands of horses and mules for the army. He had attained the rank of major when he was discharged in 1946.

Dr. Sadler returned to his hometown of Wagner after being discharged and went into partnership with his father. In 1961, his father died and Ken practiced alone until Dr. Gene Dressler joined him in practice. They were partners until 1975, when Dr. Sadler retired.

Dr. Sadler married Wilma Koehn at Wagner in October of 1975. She died September 28, 1999. Ken entered the Good Samaritan Center of Wagner February 16, 2000.

Ken was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, American Legion, South Dakota Veterinary Medical Association and past member of Rotary.

Thanksful for having shared his life are his daughter Karen Wunder of Rapid City, SD, sons Richard and wife JoAnn of Buda, TX, Jay of Bacliff, TX and Joe and wife Edie of Brandon, SD, and also Wilma's children, Bonnie and husband Jim Berka of Aumsville, OR, Jim and wife Betty Koehn of Bismark, ND and Dennis Koehn of Shelton, WA; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, seven sisters-in-law: Betty Imm of Coral Springs,FL, Jean Sadler of Sun City Center, FL, Mina Sadler of Chandler, AZ, Bonnie Sadler of Casper, WY, Violet Koupal of Dante, SD, Anna Petrik of Wagner, SD, and Margaret Uherka of Wagner, SD and one brother-in-law, Joe Chiak of Dante.

A Catholic Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2000 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Wagner, SD, Father Jordan Hite, T.O.R. celebrant and Deacon Albert Kocer, assisting.

Internment followed at St. John's Catholic Cemetery with full Military Honors performed by American Legion Greer Post #11, Rollie Bucholz VFW Post #7319 and SD National Guard 153rd Eng. Bn.

Bonnie Jean Sadler was born on July 26, 1929 in Tyndall, South Dakota to Dennis and Mary (Kelley) Murphy. On August 21, 1950 she married Leo Sadler in Tyndall, South Dakota. They made their first home in Wagner, South Dakota where their four children were born. In 1964 they moved to Helena, Montana for a brief time. In 1965 they found their true home in Casper, Wyoming where they successfully owned and operated the family-run Sadler’s Hallmark Store in downtown Casper for over 25 years. They were also long time parishioners of St Patrick’s Catholic Church and members of the Casper Country Club. Bonnie and Leo worked hard at their business, but also loved to play golf, dance together and spend time with their family.
Bonnie is survived by her 4 children: Deborah Henning (Dennis-deceased) in Topeka, Kansas;
Kevin Sadler ( Deanna) in Casper, Wyoming; Dineen Hill (Jim) in Lenexa, Kansas and Greg Sadler (Becky) in Englewood, Colorado; her 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Bonnie is also survived by 2 sisters: Anita Zecha (Bernie) in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Rita Holmes in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Leo, her parents, her brother Douglas Murphy and 4 sisters; Fern Marie Isaak, Evaryldis Base, Winifred Breck and Dolores Moriarity.

Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Saturday morning at 9:30, Rev. B. J. Reddington officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.1
