Death24 February 1949Mary Bertha Schaefer died on 24 February 1949 at South Dakota at age 67 We have received the following short obituary of Mrs Mary Rupp (Mae Shafer) who spent her girlhood days in this vicinity. Mrs Mary Rupp Aberdeen S.D. mother of Mrs Charles Metz and Mrs Lawrence Rudnick of Aberdeen died at Trinity hospital. She was 68 years old. Mary Shafer was born at Giltner, Nebr July 17, 1881, and married Anthony George Rupp at Potosi Wisc., in 1904. They came to Edgeley in 1910 living there on a farm. About three years ago Mrs Rupp moved to Aberdeen. Also surviving are two other daughters Gertrude and Mary both of Aberdeen, one son John of Edgeley, and four grandchildren at Edgeley. Preceding her in death have been Mr Rupp about eight years ago and two sons Victor and Clarence. Funeral services were held at the church of the transfiguration in Edgeley, So. Dak. Mrs Rupp's death occurred in February.

Pluemer was born on April 3, 1890, at British Hollow, Potosi Township in Grant County, the son of Adam Pluemer and Elizabeth Rupp. He attended Rockville School, Barber College, and the University of Minnesota, graduating from the University of Minnesota School of Embalming on March 20, 1917. He entered the U.S. Army on March 18, 1918, and was with the Army Medical Corps, stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, until his discharge on November 5, 1919. He resided in Potosi, Wisconsin, from 1920-1923, in Staceyville, Iowa, from 1923-1925, Waukon, Iowa, from 1925-1942. In 1942, he was employed by the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, until 1944. In 1944 he transferred to Seattle, Washington, and worked at the University of Washington for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. His family joined him in Seattle in July of 1944. In 1946, they moved to Montfort, Wisconsin, and in 1962 to Marshall, Wisconsin, where he resided until his death on May 25, 1970.

  • In 1901 Excerpt from biography: Miss Catharine ZEUG, a native of Potosi, Grant county, and a daughter of Peter and Barbara (CATERNINE) ZEUG. Her father was born in Germany, and on coming to this country in 1830, located in Dubuque, but the following year took up his residence in Potosi, where he now lives at the advanced age of ninety-eight years. During his active business life he followed mining and farming. His wife died in 1886.
